Laboratory Director

<div> <p>The Lab Director will be responsible for providing overall direction for laboratory operations and administration within the Tampa Regional Laboratory in order to service clients and patients in accordance with contractual obligations, industry standards of scientific integrity and regulatory requirements. The Lab Director will be accountable for achieving laboratory performance metrics and driving leadership, team member development. The ideal candidate must be able to influence supply chain partners to achieve technical and operational goals and drive for results.</p> <p><strong>Job Duties/Responsibilities </strong></p> </div> <ul> <li><span style="color: black;">Responsible for the development and implementation of the laboratory structure and organization to ensure uninterrupted lab operations, scientific integrity of laboratory activities and validity of test results</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Direct the implementation of standardized procedures for the laboratory including internal and external quality control and validation/implementation of new equipment and methods</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Support business development and strategic planning of new analytical technologies for clinical trials testing and analytical services</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Participate in external customer negotiations with respect to scientific and/or laboratory requests, as needed, and assures to provide internal customer support regarding medical/scientific and lab technical issues</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Organize to prepare, review and/or approves SOPs from the various laboratory departments</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Enforce and assure that prompt corrective action is taken in respect to laboratory audit findings or deficiencies noted with regards to implemented quality programs</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Serve as a laboratory departmental liaison during government inspections and/or client audits</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Prepare and implement scientific presentations for Customers when appropriate. </span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Provide and/or supervise training in all laboratory areas, ensuring policies and procedures are followed</span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Responsible for the hiring, training and development of laboratory and specimen management staff. </span></li> <li><span style="color: black;">Keep the VP of Operations abreast and current of all relevant issues. </span></li> </ul><p><span style="font-size: 8.0pt;font-family: "lucida sans";"><strong>Requirements:</strong></span></p><ul> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related life science</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory experience within a supervisory or management role</li> <li><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span>Florida Licensed Supervisor in all areas (or eligible) preferred</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>ASCP, AMT, or any other relevant laboratory certifications are a plus</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Prior experience in a high volume, clincal laboratory environment</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision</li> <li>Previous experience working in an autonomous environment with a high degree of accountability</li> <li>Strong presentation abnd communication skills; both written and verbal</li> <li>High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills</li> <li><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office</li> </ul>
