Explora BioLabs, an entity of Charles River, is seeking an Animal Care Technician I located in the San Francisco Bay area. 

We have opportunities in the following locations: Alameda, South San Francisco and San Carlos. 

 

In this role, the incumbent will perform basic animal husbandry techniques following all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the specific work area.

Responsibilities

  Animal Care and Husbandry Responsibilities. Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met. Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs. Perform routine animal health observations. Monitor temperature and humidity, reporting any issues to supervisor or manager. Maintain accurate records. Maintain vivarium cleanliness in accordance with applicable SOPs. Order and maintain accurate supply inventory. Maintain and organize supply areas. Maintain rodent breeding colonies. Reserve, select, and accurately pack animals for customer orders following established shipping procedures. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications  

Education High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred. 

Physical Demands Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift. Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Special Considerations Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work. Must have reliable transportation in order to travel site-to-site within job site(s) area during regular shift and/or on weekend/holiday shifts as assigned. Must be able to work weekends/holidays on rotational basis.
