Responsibilities

  • Drive creation and execution of Talent Agenda for the Canada Commercial Business Unit.
  • Act as the HR Lead and primary business partner to the President, Canada Commercial Business Unit and leadership team.
  • Contribute and lead as a member of the Canada Commercial Business Unit leadership team providing critical insights to talent needs and programs to impact business performance.
  • Contribute and lead as a member of the U.S. and Canada Regional Business Unit HR Leadership team
  • Execution of talent management processes, including workforce planning, recruitment and staffing, performance management, employee development and succession planning.
  • Provide support for continuous improvement of the HR function through development and implementation for all HR programs in assigned geography or business line.
  • Manage local HR staff providing direction and oversight for planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.
  • Develop strong and effective team and partnership relationships with HR specialist and other support functions/Centers of Excellence, e.g., HR Operations, Finance, Talent & Learning, Compensation etc.
  • Develop, manage and oversee the functional HR budget and manage expenses within budget allocations.
  • Partner with external consultant on the management of group benefits (medical, dental etc) and pension plan for Canada
  • Lead required CNESST activities (Pay Equity, Workers comp etc.) for the Canadian Business Unit
  • Lead and direct activities and initiatives associated with change management involving reorganizations, mergers/acquisitions and transfers to ensure business continuity, value and strategic impact as well as compliance to local legislation.
  • Ensure appropriate communications for employees are delivered timely for programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide advice, guidance and direct support on all aspects related to people management to senior management.
  • Administer employee benefits, pension and other corporate human resource initiatives as required. Participates on the Pension Committee as the employer representative

Experience / Skills

  • 8 years of experience as a generalist or combination of generalist and specialist experience
  • 3 years direct line management experience
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Analytical and solution oriented with ability to analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions and action plans
  • Experience operating with senior/executive management teams
  • Excellent problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Expert coaching and counseling skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and HRIS applications
  • Highly persuasive influencing skills
  • Organization and project management skills
  • Excellent leadership skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and client
  • Sound knowledge of appropriate legislation and employment law
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and very good interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work in a matrix environment
  • Very high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Good attention to detail
