Animal Care Technician
3rd shift! Work Hours 9:00pm to 5:00am!
Work Sunday night and be off Friday at 5:00am!
Starting pay rate $13.50-$14.00 plus additional shift premium for 3rd shift

As an Animal Care Technician in our Immunology Services your work will have a direct connection to life improving changes we make at Covance. In this position you’ll work closely with a variety of laboratory animals primarily rodent models in barrier housing. Extensive training provided! The focus of this position is providing excellent care to animals including feeding, replacing bedding, cleaning, and daily observations of animal’s health. Duties include but not limited to;
Perform animal husbandry (clean, feed, sanitation, enrichment, etc.) on a regular basis. Perform and document daily observations of animal health status and reporting any health issues Recognize animal behavior, health status and report to appropriate channels. Assist with the feeding of all animals. Perform sanitation of all equipment, assist with cage washing and tunnel washer Replacing animal pans/trays including removal waste and replacing bedding. Trays will weigh average of 50lbs. May perform animal identification tasks (tattoo, sex, ear tag, etc.). Comply with appropriate safety and health practices including personal protective equipment and barrier requirements, as applicable. Ability to work in a barrier laboratory setting including, this requires showering at the facility prior to entering barrier laboratory and showing after leaving the barrier environment May assist with shipping animals out of the facility
Excellent training provided including training on animal handling according to the Guide on Animal Handling and Husbandry. Education/Qualifications:
Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent
Prior experience caring for farm animals, or working with laboratory animals preferred but not required
Stable work history
Prior experience working 3rd shift preferred by not required
Prior experience with laboratory or research industries preferred but not required
Ability to start a full time position in the next 4-6 weeks Experience:
Experience as an animal caretaker helpful
Some computer skills
Good communication skills
