Job Summary Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses hand and power tools. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment. Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to assist in the daily repair, preventative maintenance and construction of physical plant and expansion projects, including basic carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating/air-conditioning, plumbing, painting, mechanical and floor/wall coating installation. Perform scheduled inspections/repairs on all facilities systems. Perform supply, delivery, distribution and acquisition tasks as directed. May perform waste vacuum maintenance. Participate in snow removal and ice remediation activities such as shoveling and spreading de-icing agents on walkways and parking lots, where site weather conditions necessitate. Assist in moving office contents within site, including furniture, files, etc. as needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs and services. Respond to emergencies as needed. Scheduled on-call with rotation. Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties. May provide guidance to less experienced/skilled utility workers. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) One to three years’ experience in general building maintenance with mechanical and construction background. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
