Our Predictive Analytics team within the Real-World Solutions (RWS) Technology division is a fast-growing group of collaborative, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial individuals. Data Management Architect to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the world's leading RWE teams working with real world insights to help our clients answer specific questions globally, make more informed decisions and deliver results.

The team

You will join this high-profile team to work on ground-breaking problems in health outcomes across disease areas including Ophthalmology, Oncology, Neurology, Chronic diseases such as diabetes, and a variety of very rare conditions. The Predictive Analytics team work hand-in-hand with statisticians, epidemiologists and disease area experts across the wider global RWAS Solutions team, leveraging a vast variety of anonymous patient-level information from sources such as prescriptions, claims and electronic health records. The data encompasses IQVIA’s access to over 530 million anonymized patients as well as bespoke, custom partnerships with healthcare providers and payers.

The Predictive Analytics team, in collaboration with different IQVIA functions and business units, is seeking to accelerate engagements with health systems to create capabilities which can support a range of offerings, including clinical decision-support, population health management, and Error, Fraud, Waste and Abuse (EFWA) solutions.

Several pilot projects will be launched over the coming months, anticipated to be in the US, UK, Germany and Dubai. The findings from these projects will feed into, and help shape, a longer-term health system strategy aimed at driving substantial revenue from both AI and non-AI channels.


Primary responsibility:

Oversee, and provide technical input into both design and execution of all Data Management aspects of health system engagements, facilitating Predictive Analytics use cases.

Encompassing:

  • Data extraction and integration with a variety of source systems, envisaged to leverage a mix of local healthcare, external vendor, and IQVIA technologies.
  • Deployment of data processing components in health setting infrastructure.
  • De-identification, ensuring the data management process is fully compliant with GDPR and other country-specific de-identification standards, including risk assessment.
  • Data transfer (where necessary), including use of secure transfer protocols
  • Data Warehousing, ensuring appropriate systems for storage and use are implemented, and that the data environment is fit-for-purpose to support intended offerings.
  • Quality control, including cleansing and harmonisation of the data where necessary.

Scope:

You will contribute to the success of both the overall strategy and each engagement.

Strategic:

  • You will help shape the health system engagement strategy through providing subject matter expertise on all aspects affecting data management to ensure that the strategy is best able to scale whilst being cost-effective. You will work with product management to provide requirements into the strategy, whilst also providing subject matter expertise on technical implementations of data management systems.
  • You will be expected to help identify the most appropriate combination of internal and external technical capabilities and partnerships required to execute against the goals of the strategy. External partnerships and capabilities encompass interoperability companies and EMR vendors; internal partnerships and capabilities include data management capability, Privacy Analytics, country-specific Healthcare Solutions groups, etc.

Execution:

  • For each engagement, you will design the end-to-end Data Management process and oversee its successful execution. Components of each implementation are envisaged to come from a combination of external partnerships, internal partnerships and the Predictive Analytics team. You will be willing to assume management responsibilities for all resources working on data management within the Predictive Analytics team or directly supporting the initiative (e.g. from IQVIA tech hubs).

Relationship management

This is a role which will require outstanding relationship management skills with both external (e.g. Interoperability companies and healthcare partners) and internal groups.

Within IQVIA, you will work closely with Predictive Analytics Product Management, to help scope out technical requirements and prioritise backlogs. You will work closely with delivery teams, such as UK Healthcare Solutions, Data Privacy Office, Global Delivery Centre (GDC) and Predictive Analytics, to ensure the data environment is fit-for-purpose to support different offerings.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Substantial (8+ years) experience developing and maintaining software and systems related to healthcare data management.
  • Considerable (5+ years) design experience across the architecture domains of:
    Data & Information, Integration, Technology Solutions (ideally TOGAF certified). 
  • Proven experience in modelling and implementation of relational databases, and data warehousing methodologies such as Data Vault or Kimball star schema, while maintaining data dictionaries.
  • Proficiency with SQL and ETL frameworks
  • Experienced in Master Data Management and Data Quality approaches and tooling.
  • Familiarity with issues pertaining to data regulations (e.g. GDPR), particularly constraints applicable to healthcare or clinical trial data.
  • Experience growing and managing small / medium sized teams, ideally as a technical lead.
  • Experience in tool selection and consideration of component build/buy/re-use.
  • Experience engaging with internal and external partners encompassing value propositions, requirements, contractual Statements of Work, project management and acceptance of deliverables.
  • Has supported engagements with clients and healthcare data controllers, presenting technical roadmaps and information governance proposals.
  • Proficient understanding of designing microservices based applications.
  • Experience with deploying code into production through CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Extensive experience in Scrum practices and related tooling such as Jira, ideally having acted as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Degree educated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline.

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience with No-SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Familiarity with workflow managers such as Airflow, Azkaban or Luigi.
  • Experience working in a function as part of, or supporting, a data-science team with a machine learning focus.
  • Practical experience with the Hadoop ecosystem including tools such as YARN, Hive, Impala, HDFS including knowledge about Hadoop cluster architecture.
  • Python experience.
  • A good understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and Linux proficiency.
  • Strong unit testing and debugging skills.
  • Familiar with healthcare industry standards of interoperability & data such as HL7 FHIR, OMOP, and clinical terminology taxonomies/ontologies.
  • Definition of data-exchange interfaces and comfortable working with JSON, XML and XSD schemas.
  • Masters level educated in relevant technical or scientific discipline.
