The associate director is responsible for the overall quality control of the contract management and bidding processes by providing direction for the contract and proposal processes in the areas of negotiation, development, review and compliance.Included is supervision of several small teams of commercial managers, associate commercial managers and/or analysts. Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in business related area6-10 years experience in bid, proposal, and contract development and analysis, budget analysis and pricing of products or services that includes managing complex problems and process development improvementsExperience negotiating with clients and proven track record of successful proposal defense while providing high level of customer satisfaction3 years staff management experienceOr equivalent combination of education, professional training and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong general business knowledge, including understanding of the global financial, marketing and buying and selling processes within a general business environmentStrong negotiation skillsProven leadership skills and abilitiesAbility to focus on customer service goalsAbility to analyze and resolve complex, difficult, or uncertain financial and contractual situations, including escalation to and negation with executive management (client or PPD)Proven experience in driving the opportunity pursuit process including strategy development and follow through on action items to ensure a coordinated effort by the account teamAbility to prioritize and allocate workload across multiple teamsDemonstrates strategic vision in terms of departmental development, client management and global consistencyExcellent communication and presentation skillsComputer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft ProjectAttention to detail and ability to multi-task dailyExcellent organizational skillsWorking Conditions and EnvironmentWork is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Occasional drives to site locations, frequent travels both domestic and international. Physical RequirementsFrequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Moderate mobility required. Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally and externally. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
