About the Position:

The Senior Legal Contracts Specialist drafts, reviews and negotiates agreements with third parties on PPD's behalf and within established PPD parameters. Serves as the primary contact (within the department and with internal and external customers) for agreements assigned to their group while working autonomously, escalating issues to a company attorney when warranted or required by regulation. Establishes best practices and serves as a core member of process improvement opportunities. Provides mentorship, training and direction to more junior departmental employees.

Job Description:

This position is a specialist, non-management, technical role within the department. The Contract Specialist title will include the title of Legal Counsel if employee is a licensed attorney.

Provides oversight, mentorship, training, and direction to more junior departmental employees.Prepares, negotiates and finalizes PPD Agreements and/or other related documentation.Assesses legal risks and provides recommendations and alternative mitigating resolutions to departmental and senior management. Upon request, makes recommendations to Executive Management with regard to risks, strategies and recommendations.Establishes best practices and serves as a core member of process improvement opportunities.Participates in committees as needed.Understands and adheres to PPD and Client SOPs, WPDs and other regulations for all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout.Assists in other legal matters as required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsSubstantial organizational skills and strong attention to detail with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectivelyMust be flexible and able to reprioritize workload to meet changing project needsComprehensive MS Excel and MS Word skillsExcellent English and grammar skillsExcellent analytical and decision based thinkingStrong drafting and negotiation skills, requiring no oversight except for qualified attorney review and input as necessary for (I) compliance with unauthorized practice of law regulations and (II) escalationsMust be able to work independently and as a team playerMust be able to supervise work product and timeliness of, and provide direction to, more junior members of the departmentAbility to apply knowledge of and adhere to all PPD and Client SOPs, WPDs and other regulations in all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout
