Responsible for assembling, placement and retrieval of archived material in a secure and controlled access archive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Perform and coordinate transfer of materials, as assigned.

• Place and retrieve archived material in a secure and controlled access archives.

• Organize, file and retrieve study and ancillary facility records.

• Evaluate and procure archive supplies.

• Verify and inventory wet tissues, blocks, tissue slides and blood slides.

• Check-in/check-out materials from the archives.

• Assemble study materials as specified in the SOP for archiving; paginate and bind scientific data for archival storage.

• Contact clients for disposition (renewal), as assigned.

• Prepare archived materials for shipment, as assigned.

• Perform and coordinate destruction of materials, as assigned.

• Computer entry of study records into the archive database.

• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Conform to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLP). Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Education:  High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).  Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent desired in business or administrative assistant discipline.

•    Experience:  1-2 years of office experience or administrative/secretarial training required.

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Licensure:  None.

•    Other:  Basic computer skills with departmental databases (Access, Approach), word processing (Word), and spreadsheet programs (Excel).  Must be organized, have attention to detail and possess good problem-solving skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, reach with arms and hands, and type at a computer.

•    Occasionally carry, lift, and move 20 lb. boxes from shelf to shelf. 

•    Must be able to occasionally lift 20 lb. boxes onto and down from 5 foot high shelves and up and down stairs.  

•    Sits for up 60% of the workday.

•    Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.

•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•    General office working conditions; the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

•    Frequently enters the outside weather conditions to enter additional archive locations.
