Job Summary We are seeking an Technical Trainer 1 for our Insourcing Solutions Department located in Cambridge, MA.  This position offers a $2,000.00 sign on bonus!

Implement and document technical skills training and assessment programs in accordance with Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) programmatic documents and Charles River policy.

The following are responsibilities relate to the Technical Trainer 1: Review, organize, and process training and assessment requests from staff and clients. Maintain training and assessment documentation, including technique proficiency lists for technical staff. Implement teaching outlines and determine appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops. Implement a schedule for offering hands-on technique demonstration and training at regular intervals for staff and clients. Perform and/or appropriately assign staff technical proficiency assessments and sign-offs. Organize and implement hands-on technique demonstration and training at regular intervals for staff and clients Perform technical functions required by research protocols such as assist with dilution and dosing calculations;  dosing administrations (PO, SQ, IP, IM, and IV & RO); blood collections (Tail Vain, Submandibular, Orbital Sinus, Cardiac, Submental); Advanced organ necropsy and tissue collection as typically performed on toxicology studies, & profusions ; and Tumor measurements, body weights, IBD and /or EAE scoring, behavioral monitoring, etc. Rodent surgical assistant skills in anesthesia monitoring, pre-surgical and post-surgical care and monitoring, compound calculations. May provide backup coverage for Veterinary Technicians when needed. Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Technical Trainer 1 position: Education:  Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) in animal or laboratory science, adult education, or related field. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred Experience:  Minimum two - three (2 - 3) years of hands-on experience with rodents in a laboratory animal setting with technical experience, with technical experience preferred, or experience in adult education in any setting in combination with experience in any role in a laboratory animal setting.. Certification/Licensure:  Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification from AALAS. Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG), CVT, LVT, or RVT certification preferred. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Other: knowledge of functional area and understanding of how training may impact other areas. knowledge of behavior and appearances of laboratory animals is sufficient to notice deviations from normal. Strong proficiency of in-vivo technical skills and working experience of multiple animal models. Advanced knowledge of rodent technical skills and capability of identifying sick animals, summarizing findings, and providing medical treatment as prescribed. Self-directed and displays good judgment.  Strong organization skills and proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects to meet department objectives and deadlines. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
