We are looking for a Manager, Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability to join our Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) team in San Francisco, CA.

What you will do! In this role you will develop and implement policies/procedures that will increase the safety and protection of the environment for the business and ensure compliance with all regulations. Perform documented risk assessments; implement the site audit program for EHS&S compliance of the site, track, and report status of corrective actions and alert management of problems where intervention or oversight is required. In addition, serve as the EHS pre-reviewer for IACUC protocols; consult with all individuals at the site on regulatory compliance related issues and ensure proper training programs are established. Manage moderate sized capital infrastructure projects, develop budgets, and cost savings initiatives, as well as schedules in support of EHS&S initiatives.  

The Manager will lead the selection process for hiring 3rd party service firms, evaluating proposals, conducting interviews, and making recommendation, in partnership with Procurement and Management. You will provide supervision, development and training of staff and contractors including OEB, SOP, and EHS&S policy training. It will be necessary to consult with engineering, management, and staff to identify potential issues through engineering design or other means; partner with leadership to address audit findings from clients, regulatory agencies, or internal audits. 

In this role you will submit environmental reports and permits to all required agencies timely; manage and maintain necessary facility permit, licenses, and compliance reports to all regulatory authorities for CRADL sites and ensure new sites are permitted and in compliance. Assist in the basis of design of new CRADL facilities including but not limited to, oxygen depletion assessments, monitoring and alarm requirements for hazardous gases, and waste systems. Finally, you may assist in AAALAC Accreditation process for all existing and new sites.

Who are we looking for? A candidate with a BS degree or equivalent in Life Science (biology, chemistry) Environmental Engineering, or related; 7 to 10 years related experience. Experience supporting laboratory animal facilities is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education/experience listed above. Must have sound working knowledge of GLPs, GMPs and government regulatory requirements and guidelines.

The pay range for this position is $145-165K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
