Business Analytics and Optimization Analyst

The Business Analytics and Optimization analyst is responsible for delivering operational analytics that provide insight into the performance of the business and helps make recommendations to improve performance. You are someone who is comfortable with extracting, processing and analyzing large datasets, has the business acumen and the operational mindset to understand what the key drivers of the performance are and present the same to management.
Relationships
Key Accountabilities
Business Analyst
• Understand the process and domain that needs to be analyzed quickly (Clinical operations, feasibility, Site Start-up, Investigator Payments, Data management, Business development)
• Know the data-flow between systems and have a good understanding of the relationship between data and process
Data Specialist
• Architect the data for use across Applications
• Listen to the Client (Internal) problem, suggest the analytical approach and Ability to provide clear instructions to IT on data needs and in some cases extract the data directly from the database
• Develop applications to collect and fill in data gaps as needed
Analytics Development
• Manage and prioritize multiple analytical engagements and leverage automation on repeated analytics and reporting
• Create and manage dashboards for multiple areas and processes
Optimize
• Be a true business partner in the assigned area
• Establish effective working relationships with Functional Leaders
• Provide input and guidance to process improvement/leaning activities and training QualificationsSkills
Technical
• Demonstratable proficiency with enterprise Business Intelligence tools, e.g., PowerBI (preferred), Spotfire (preferred), Tableau, QlikView.
• Experience with data preparation tools like Knime (preferred), Alteryx, Talend, etc.
• Experience delivering reporting/analytics using MS Excel
• Proficient computer and internet skills, including working knowledge of MS-office applications, such as MS Outlook, Word , Excel and Access
• Ability to develop applications via MS SharePoint and PowerApps platform is a plus
• Knowledge of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
• Proficient in SQL and able to extract data from databases, big data experience is a plus
• Scripting experience, such as with Python, R, VBA, JavaScript, M Language, DAX, etc., is a plus
• Knowledge of Statistical Analysis is a plus
Business
• Ability to make effective PowerPoint presentations is required to drive actions
• Experience working with data in support of a Clinical Research environment
• Understanding of KPIs that drive operational performance is required
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong initiative and ability to work in a customer focus and team environment
• Sense of urgency and organization in completing tasks
• Effective analytic and strategic thinking skills
Education
• Degree in a Quantitative/Analytical field (Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Business/Commerce)
• A Master’s degree is a plus
Language Skills
• Competent in written and oral English
Minimum Work Experience
• A minimum of 2-5 years’ work experience in a quantitative field or in a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Clinical research with demonstrable quantitative skills
• Professional knowledge gained through experience as a financial/business, scientific or technical business analyst/analytics developer.
