Cloud Operations Engineer 2

This is a technical position that requires experience of operations and support across multiple disciplines in the public cloud, including servers, database, network and containers. You will work with other engineers and architects in the Cloud Operations team to provide both deployment and support services for our internal business units.
Responsibilities
General
Administration and creation of AWS accounts
Create and manage Service Control Policies
Administration of users and security within AWS IAM
Administration and reporting within Cloudhealth, as well as assisting users with the features
Develop Python scripts, terraform templates, and AWS CloudFormation templates to automate AWS services and eliminate repetitive manual tasks using API's
Perform daily operations duties such as planning and implementing changes, checking automation job status, responding to alerts and events.
Continual review and execution of cost optimization opportunities
Regular cost reporting and management
Implement and enhance DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployment
Maintain backup/recovery solutions and AZ configuration
Administer AWS security groups, roles, keys, and policies.
Manage S3 bucket security and access.
Manage EIPs and associations.
Create, manage, and monitor Cloudwatch and Splunk alerts, as well as continually reviewing and enhancing monitoring process and tools
Create, document, and automate requested client processes.
Assist and provide input during client application installs and POC.
Serve as SME on various project teams.
Networking
Create and maintain VPC subnets, route tables, VPN's and security groups
Create and maintain Transit Gateway connections
Implement, support, and diagnose networking concepts; both AWS and open systems.
Manage Route53 entries and coordinate with network/F5 teams.
Server
Manage instance build process and AMIs for both Windows and Linux platforms
Support SES/postfix configurations, including verified addresses and external routing rules.
Ensure snapshot rotation and retention policies are enforced.
Ensure instances/VMs are patched quarterly within client windows.
Serve as escalation resource for OS level issues.
Design and implement OS level enhancements.
Requirements and Key Skills
5+ years of senior level system administration experience with Windows and Linux operating systems administration, networking concepts and protocols, and basic scripting skills
3+ years of experience administering public cloud and hybrid workloads
Understanding of public cloud Database PaaS platforms
Scripting and automation experience: Powershell, CLI interfaces Cloud Native API’s, REST API’s
Understanding of container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and AWS ECS
Understanding of DevOps tools and continuous pipeline (CICD); Build/release experience a plus
Understanding of configuration management/IaC platforms like CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible).
Working Knowledge of Rest API
Experience deploying and supporting medium to large IaaS, PaaS environments
Understanding of cloud emerging technologies
Cloud security working knowledge
Knowledge/experience with monitoring tools such as Cloudwatch, Splunk, CloudHealth
Experience with Cloud Identity Providers (e.g. Okta, ADFS, Azure AD )
Highly desirable
AWS/Azure Certification
Technical expertise with security, compliance (e.g. SOC, PCI, HiTrust) and privacy (e.g., HIPAA) a plus
