  Job Summary

Primary responsibilities of the Necropsy Technician position : 

  Animal handling, euthanasia and anesthesia (all species used in research);  Sampling of tissues and biological fluids (blood, bone marrow, urine or others);  Organ degreasing and weighing, organ submission;  Use of the Provantis computer system for accurate and detailed data entry;   Preparation of necessary materials;  Ensures study integrity and meets regulatory agency requirements by performing activities and collecting data in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Animal Care Committee (ACC) regulations. 

Qualifications for the Necropsy Technician position include: 

  Possession of a DEC in Animal Health, Biotechnical Technical or equivalent is an asset;  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered an acceptable substitute for the specific education and experience listed above;  Meticulous and good attention to detail;  Flexible schedule and available to work outside of regular hours (overtime) and weekends;  Reading English is required, bilingualism is preferred;  Basic working knowledge of computers;  Ability to work in a team environment.
