Sr Medical Communications Writer

Develop client communication programs, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant scientific and clinical data for the product, therapy area and market and, where appropriate, brand marketing strategy and promotional key messages. Act as medical writing lead on complex client programs, coordinating medical writing resources, as required. Work across a number of multi-functional teams from across the Medical Team, the Medical Communications Division and other IQVIA Divisions.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure consistent high quality of all writing projects on allocated accounts, producing the full range of written communications items in accordance with the needs and objectives of the client, target audience and publication medium. Review written materials produced by team members on assigned accounts, coaching and mentoring staff, as appropriate.
  • Ensure communication materials are delivered on time and within budget keeping relevant parties aware of the status of project activities.
  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans in close collaboration with client/project team.
  • Proactively contribute creative ideas, concepts or suggestions to provide added value on assigned accounts and create business growth opportunities.
  • Advise and consult with internal and external stakeholders on areas of expertise.
  • Lead meetings with relevant stakeholders, presenting scientific/clinical concepts and facilitating discussions as required.
  • Cultivate strong, long-term working relationships with internal and external key decision-makers.
  • Contribute to account development and participate in the creation and delivery of proposals/pitches, offering scientific expertise and strategic understanding of product, therapy area and marketplace, and developing new communication solutions and services.
  • In conjunction with senior medical team members forward plan resource for the department, supervising staff and freelancers on assigned accounts, as appropriate. Line manage a small number of writers, as appropriate, and assist in the training of the team.
  • Help to develop project specifications and cost estimates on assigned accounts, working closely with account teams.
  • Assess, analyze and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs)


Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree Req
• 5 years’ medical writing experience in a medical communications agency . Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Strong computer skills, including MS office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet
• Experience with research tools and approaches, such as reference management/publication planning databases
• Proven experience in writing in the medical/scientific communications field
• Demonstrable knowledge of healthcare/scientific communications business objectives, services and operating procedures
• Experience of a variety of medical communications materials for a range of audiences, for example publication planning, symposium and exhibition materials, educational and training aids, pitch presentations and promotional materials
• Proven ability to coach and train team members
• Ability to oversee medical project team outputs, ensuring quality, compliance, appropriateness and profitability
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, clients and suppliers
• Good awareness of current industry code of practice guidelines and their implications
• Budgetary awareness
• Strong presentation skills
