Spanish University Clinic conducts a clinical trial of Digital Acoustic Surveillance for Early Detection of Respiratory Disease Outbreaks

Clinica Universidad de Navarra, Universidad de Navarra is commencing recruitment for the clinical trial of the Digital Acoustic Surveillance for Early Detection of Respiratory Disease Outbreaks.

The conditions are Covid19, Cough.

A new clinical trial is recruiting patients in the following locations: Spain.

The trial officially began on the November 11, 2020 and is planned to complete on November 1, 2021.

This is a study to evaluate the accuracy of a digital cough monitoring tool to reflect the incidence of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections at the community level in the city of Pamplona, Spain.

The population that can be enrolled into this study includes:

  • Be aged 13 or above
  • Own and regularly use a smartphone able to run the cough-tracking system
  • Be willing to install and regularly use it
  • Be current residents of Navarra, and
  • Have an active relationship with the university (having interest in the study, or being a student or worker, be a patient with a cough-related diagnosis at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, or Cizur's health centre)

Centre de Recherche du Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal is the collaborator in this clinical trial.

The University Clinic of Navarra (CUN) - known as the University Clinic of Navarra from its foundation until 2009 is a private Spanish university hospital with offices in Pamplona (Navarra) and Madrid (Community of Madrid). It is part of the University of Navarra, an educational institution that was promoted by Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, founder of Opus Dei. It was inaugurated in 1962, although its beginnings date back to 1954, the date on which the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarra, an academic center intrinsically linked to the Clinic, began its activity.
