Head of Medical Affairs Customer Strategy

Role Purpose:

Lead the development of IQVIA’s enterprise wide Medical Affairs strategy and build a more compelling integrated offering that resonates with Medical Affairs clients and grows revenue & profitability. Establish the role as a key subject matter expert in Medical Affairs to drive greater understanding and connectivity across IQVIA.

Role objectives:

  • Build an enterprise wide Medical Affairs Strategy focused on more comprehensively meeting the needs of Medical Affairs customers.
  • Bring together the strands of IQVIA Medical Affairs business into the strategy and develop a more coherent proposition for Medical Affairs customers that drives opportunities across IQVIA.
  • Establish the role as a recognised customer and subject matter expert in Medical Affairs.
  • Establish an external profile with Medical Affairs customers.  Utilise expertise to build customer relationships and business.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Medical Affairs customer needs through regular interactions with them at global, regional and country level and share this effectively across IQVIA to improve knowledge and win more business.
  • Build connections between key Medical Affairs stakeholders in RWE, CSMS, Consulting and RDS driving towards consensus on how integrate their strengths into the Med Affairs strategy, business development and operations to satisfy the Med Affairs customer
  • Develop organic and inorganic plans to extend the Medical Affairs offering suite and revenues.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to build connectivity between CSMS and RWE and RDS offerings in Medical Affairs and exploit pull through of business and revenues across divisions.
  • Enhance existing Medical Affairs offerings in CSMS & RWE through appropriate development plans and investments.
  • Build investment /business cases to secure resources, execution or organisational changes needed to deliver the strategy and service enhancements.
  • Provide relevant teams in IQVIA with customer and subject matter expert advice.
  • Support Medical Affairs business development activities where these enable delivery of the strategic imperatives identified.  Work as part of multi-disciplinary bid teams for new business across IQVIA divisions.
  • Support and oversight execution activity across RBUs and GBUs and drive excellence in delivery by setting standards, development of necessary initiatives and monitoring progress to continuously maintain an strategy that is fit per purpose and meet clients ‘needs in its execution

  • Role reports to the CSMS VP Offering Development;
  • Senior leadership stakeholders: SVP Global Head of CSMS, President RWE;
  • CSMS GBU key colleagues: Senior Director Offering Development, Head of Medical & Patient Communications, Global Head of Scientific Communications, Senior Director International Business Development, Marketing Director;
  • CSMS RBU key colleagues: VP US CSMS, EU country CSMS leaders, Medical Director APAC, Head of APAC CSMS, Head of LATAM CSMS;
  • Go to market key colleagues: Global Account Directors, Regional Account Directors, EBP leaders;
  • RWE key colleagues: SVP Partnerships & Offerings, VP &Category Lead Medical Affairs
  • RDS key colleagues: Senior Director Pharmacovigilance, SVP Regulatory Tech & Safety Services

Role requirements:

  • At least five years’ experience in senior Medical Affairs roles in Pharmaceuticals or other life sciences.
  • Strong influencing and communications skills
  • Strategic thinker able to translate ideas into clear action plans
  • A track record of delivery in senior roles in large organisations
  • Experience of working with international markets.
