Senior Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting

The Senior Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting is a management position with visibility to senior management levels throughout the organization. The responsibilities of this role include assisting the management team in researching US GAAP new pronouncements and their impact on the company, researching revenue and other "operational" technical questions from the business, preparing/updating technical accounting memos as needed, assisting with external reporting, working with the external and internal auditors on technical accounting related inquiries and other duties as assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
Performs technical accounting research and identifies impact to the Company’s accounting and financial statements. Documents research in technical accounting memos that are reviewed with senior accounting executives (Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting officer) and external auditors
Updates annual technical accounting memos including assisting with any underlying procedures such as coordinating with the valuation firm for annual goodwill testing and equity plan valuations
Work with Director of External Reporting and Technical accounting to answer and document accounting conclusions for questions brought by the business on revenue recognition, capitalization or other areas where guidance is needed by the business
Works with External Reporting team members on quarterly and annual financial statements as needed
Work with external auditors on technical accounting related inquiries/procedures
Maintain a positive, results orientated approach that facilitates building partnerships and delivering exceptional service to our internal customers
Ensures compliance to key controls as identified in the internal controls documentation
Skills:
Strong technical accounting background including in depth experience with technical research and documentation related to, but not limited to 606 revenue recognition, stock-based compensation accounting, accounting for mergers and acquisitions or other special projects
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, knowledge of IFRS and/or other local GAAP would be beneficial but not required
Knowledge of external reporting requirements for both private and public companies
Proven ability to work as a partner with all internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and reporting requirements
Excellent communication skills including, listening, speaking and writing
Experience in communicating technical accounting research/options to various levels within an organization
Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline driven environment including, but not limited to:
Client focused approach to work
A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload, potentially in a remote or decentralized role
Knowledge and Experience:
At least 8 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience
Prefer experience with an international and multi-cultural work environment
Experience using financial and reporting systems such as Hyperion and Workiva
Education:
BA or MS in Accounting
CPA and/or MBA is required
