Healthcare Data Management Project Manager

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a program delivery or consulting role leading Healthcare (Payer or Provider) IT related initiatives, particularly focused on data related initiatives
  • Ideal candidate must have proven experience leading one or more of the following data related initiatives:  Data Management (governance, catalog & lineage, quality, master data management); Data Engineering (warehouse, operational data store, data lake/hub)
  • Creating and managing detailed project plans for projects of all levels of complexity and scope using Microsoft Project (or similar tool)
  • Leading / managing IT implementation projects at various levels of complexity using different Project Management methodologies (agile, iterative, waterfall)
  • Proven competence in analyzing business needs and working with cross functional (technical & non-technical) teams to deliver enterprise solutions
  • Leading a matrix project team to define, establish, and ensure completion of all program milestones while adhering to timelines and budgets
  • Leading cross-functional teams which may consist of employees, contractors, and consulting partners
  • Working with and managing vendor partners on project deliverables and execution
  • Demonstrates proven leadership in project management and will provide leadership and support to all members of the project team, internally and externally

Required Activities:

  • Responsible for initiating, planning, designing, executing, controlling, delivering to requirements, and closing application and system implementation projects using a formal project management methodology
  • Typically manages multiple projects of moderate size and risk concurrently, or focuses on one project of large size and risk
  • Responsible for significant, enterprise-wide projects, typically with large budgets and sizeable staff, focused on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders, etc…
  • Defines project scope, budget, goals and deliverables that support the business requirements in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.  Directs and manages project development from beginning to end including clear and concise timeline expectations to the project team.
  • Manages and monitors project budget, resources, deliverables, quality, forecasting, milestones, and scope
  • Facilitates status meetings with project team members to collect % complete, remaining work, due dates, issues, risks, changes, resolution plans, etc…
  • Provides regular and ad hoc status reports on schedule, budget, scope, and deliverables using a standardized approach
  • Defines project objectives and provides oversight of quality control throughout the lifecycle
  • Serves as the communication “hub” for the project
  • Creates and executes detailed project plans, including milestone & activity dependencies, risks / issues, budgets, and resource allocation using appropriate PM tools (i.e. Microsoft Project, or equivalent).  Revises and communicates plan as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Plans, executes, and finalizes projects according to aggressive deadlines and budgets.
    Coordinates resources and efforts of team members, third party contractors, and consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope, and monitors project metrics for significant deviations in quality, cost, or schedule
  • Assists in establishing and improving project management methodologies, procedures and policies
  • Coaches individuals on the project teams and provides feedback on performance to their leaders
  • Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  • Oversees client relations to ensure that service expectations are developed and met
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client for approval
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope, budget, project issues, and potential risks, and reaches consensus on contingency plans
  • Develops and delivers status reports, proposals, change/risk/issue logs, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Manages, clinical, business, and vendor resources in a matrix environment working with appropriate management to secure the appropriate resources.

Required Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ideal candidate must have proven experience leading one or more of the following data related initiatives: Data Management (governance, catalog & lineage, quality, master data management); Data Engineering (warehouse, operational data store, data lake/hub)
  • Foundational understanding of end to end data management process from ingestion through end-user consumption
  • Expert user of Microsoft Project (or similar tool)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, logical reasoning, problem solving, organizational, and verbal & written communication skills
  • Excellent project management and consultative skills
  • Impeccable attention to details
  • Extensive creativity required across areas of expertise
  • Adheres to the established enterprise methodologies, practices and procedures for documentation, project management, programming, configuration, change management, testing, deployment and system monitoring to promote accountability within that cultivates a collaborative work environment with our customers and ensures delivery of agreed upon functionality

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred
  • Utilizes solid knowledge of the Project Management Institute's standards and terminology
  • Agile / Scrum Master certification is strongly preferred
