Submission for the position: Executive Director, Enterprise Strategy - Innovation - (Job Number: 182269)

Leads the innovation, development, execution and governance of strategic initiatives with the ultimate responsibility for setting enterprise priorities and developing a strategic framework to enable the organization's long-term competitiveness. Partners with senior leadership on corporate strategy to achieve aggressive growth targets and objectives, including mega-choices, chart M&A roadmaps and advise on business transformation opportunities.Leads competitive assessments and delivers insights on an external benchmarking industry perspective to turn market and customer insights into strategies for growth and industry leadership. Acts as a key driver by probing and challenging business units to productively debate strategies which are being developed. Focuses on data, digital, technology, and innovation and how they are applied both operationally and toward new offering development within the organization. Leads corporate partnership strategy across the organization. Provides leadership through effective staffing and performance management. Develops the team with an eye toward infusing top talent into the organization. Leads corporate partnership strategy through the identification, prioritization and unlocking value through partnerships, including eventual M&A targets, investments, or potentially new businesses. Leads with strong competitive and business intelligence collaborating with business unit leaders to convert innovative strategies into sustainable profitability & business growth. Focuses on novel data, technology and digital applications across business units. Partners with multiple stakeholders to develop new business models that support the organization’s growth, corporate strategy, improves organizational performance and client success. Engages with business unit's and senior leadership team on a regular basis to collaborate on innovation efforts and effectively drives change, challenges thinking, and ensures that the strategies put in place are the right ones to sustain long-term advantage and differentiation. Successfully integrates new and emerging industry trends with business line strategy. Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders and advises on the executive decision process regarding M&A. Successfully navigates politicized situations and exercises influence at senior levels to gain executive buy-in and alignment around key strategic priorities. Manages the Strategy department budget including the Office of the CEO. Plays a pivotal role in progressing the Office of the CEO agenda and the continuous evolution of the sophistication in board materials. Proactively and continuously assesses relevant marketplaces and dynamics, customers and competitors to enable strategic decisions across the enterprise. Leverages data driven planning to ensure full integration and alignment of enterprise strategic initiatives. Partners closely with Enterprise Data leadership team on unlocking the value of data generally for the organization.

Education and Experience: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 to 15 years).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced leadership skills and executive presence A strategist with comprehensive analysis and demonstrated tactical and strategic planning skills Influential with the ability to create a compelling business case that outlines strategic opportunities and convince management to pursue new ideas Distinguished written and oral communication and presentation skills, including ability to simplify complex concepts to be easily consumed across the organization Strong project management leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure and meeting deadlines Ability to build and lead teams across multiple disciplines Exhibits deep intellectual curiosity and creative thinking that drives new approaches and ideas Ability to drive proactive change within the organization Thorough understanding of sponsor/CRO business practices and strong knowledge of the organization's operational/financial practices and relevant regulatory guidelines Strong organizational and learning agility with a demonstrated drive for results Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels both internally and externally
