Role purpose

You will work from our office in Athens and report into our EMEA Regional Business Unit, with focus on the European market, supporting our Methods and Evidence Generation team. Typical projects include (network) meta-analysis, survival analysis and real-world evidence studies using electronic medical records, databases, registries and claims. The audience for these analyses will be various pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology companies. As part of a broader team, you will contribute to the design of these type of studies (protocols), preparation of the data sets, R scripts, BUGS/JAGS models, analysis, quality control, interpretation and presentation of the results. Part of your role will be to mentor junior team members and contribute to proposals and presentations to clients, providing the statistical insight.

Qualifications and Skills

  • BSc or equivalent in statistics, biostatistics or relevant field
  • MSc or PhD or equivalent in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or related discipline
  • Prior relevant experience with healthcare data working as a statistician in consultancy, CRO or pharmaceutical /biotech (relevant experience as post-graduate researcher may also be considered)
  • Strong programming skills in R (SAS will also be considered)
  • Experience with Bayesian statistics, generalized linear models, (network) meta-analysis, survival analysis, propensity score matching
  • Experience utilising large-scale healthcare databases populated with EMR data
  • Enthusiasm for statistics, including a flexible & problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to check own work so that drafts are delivered to a high quality
  • Strong time-management and organisational skills
  • Attitude to work well as a team member and to build and manage relationships in a multi-cultural environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English– applications should be sent in English
  • Eligibility to work in Greece without visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the statistical analysis protocols (SAP) and conduct evidence synthesis by means of meta-analysis, indirect treatment comparison or network meta-analysis (frequentist or Bayesian) with patient-level and/or aggregate data (e.g. from literature review) from RCTs, using R and OpenBUGS/JAG
  • Conduct survival analysis using R or SAS
  • Specify and/or extract data from databases using R; prepare and analyse datasets according to study protocol and SAP
  • Write and present results of analysis appropriate for the intended audience
  • Assist in the dissemination of any clinically relevant findings through technical reports, manuscripts, posters and presentations
