Overview of the team

The Technology Solutions team provides Technology Solutions to Life Science clients across offerings ranging from CRM, Multichannel Marketing, Social Media, Content Management, Performance Management and Master Data Management solutions.  The team also provide marketing services to Life Science clients by delivering email and direct mail services as well as patient adherence solutions.

The Technology Solutions group is part of the Technology & Services team – delivering on the vision of bringing the best of QuintilesIMS’ assets to tackle the challenges of Life Science organisations.

The Technology Solutions team are expanding to deliver the commercial ambition for the future.  The consulting members of the team are challenged with understanding client issues, designing a solution, rooted in technology to solve issues and delivering projects to a high standard.  Engagements span CRM and other technology implementations, delivery of social media projects and technology consulting engagements spanning data strategies to customer engagement operating models.

Overview of the role

As a Consultant, you will participate or lead teams in the design, development and delivery of consulting projects or components of larger, complex projects. Responsibilities will include reviewing client requirements and assisting in the development of proposals. The team are organised in a sales and delivery model.  This means that team members are expected to participate in BD activities as well as delivery of sold engagements.  There are three core requirements:

  • Strategicthinking – working with account managers to decide where to play and how to win at target accounts
  • Sales enablement across the sales lifecycle – from lead generation through to contract. This will cover proposal development and occasionally pitching.
  • Project management of deliveries once they have sold including working on client sites to deliver projects such as data diagnostics resulting in KPI libraries for clients

Candidates are also expected to proactively develop a broader and deeper knowledge of related consulting methodologies and the pharmaceutical market. As part of the role it is expected that the candidate will begin to develop practice specific subject matter expertise and recommend improvements and alternative solutions to resolve client problems, for example to become a specialist in data analytics or in commercial engagement in the pharmaceutical industry.

As a consultant, you will work alongside experienced project leads and with the technology delivery team.  This is a critical role in delivering value to our clients and ensuring that we grow the services we provide clients.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Member of project team or running assignments ensuring efficient and effective project delivery to meet client expectations
    • Help clients determine the optimum initiatives/ commercial model/ technology/ etc. to effectively deliver their objectives in e.g. launch excellence, salesforce effectiveness, performance management, compliance etc., through the development of strategic business models,
    • Consult clients and shape their strategic options in PowerPoint presentations, workshops and other types of deliverables to help them make their evaluation
  • Ability to manage and be accountable for multiple projects, juggle priorities and deliver on time meeting client expectations
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis to input into client deliverables
  • Design and structure deliverables, workshops and presentations that are appropriate to the characteristics or needs of the audience
  • Develop relationships with senior level managers at clients
  • Provides support in proposal development and contributes to the review of client requirements  
  • Remaining current on industry, client and competitive trends through the delivery of consulting engagements and participation in formal and informal learning opportunities 

Education, skills and experience required

  • Minimum 2.1 Bachelor’s degree with moderate to in depth demonstrated related experience in industry or consulting
  • Proven experience in analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills
  • Track record of consulting experience, methods, tools and techniques and of managing small projects  
  • Preferably experience in a ‘brand-name’ consulting firm, ideally with healthcare and life sciences project experience
  • Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
  • Good presentation and communication skills with fluency in English (spoken and written); strong business/scientific written English
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate determination and resilience
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality work within challenging timelines
  • A commitment to working independently and collaboratively with others in and across the team
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to build credibility and influence external and internal contacts
  • Understanding of project management with proven time management and personal organisational skills
