Job Summary

The Registered Nurse II will assume responsibility for the daily activities involved in the collection of plateletpheresis, leukapheresis, and Whole Blood.  Provide direction to staff for special projects as assigned to ensure a smooth operation and efficient production of blood products.   Must be able to interact with various departments to ensure integrity and quality of daily processes.  

Essential Responsibilities: •    Utilize applicable aseptic techniques to plan, perform, and chart the following procedures in accordance with HemaCare policies and procedures: Automated plateletpheresis and leukapheresis, whole blood procedures, white blood cell collections and other special procedures as required. •    Make appropriate mechanical adjustments to apheresis machines based on product integrity and physical status of the donor. •    Expertise in venous access, identification, and treatment of donor reactions. •    Expertise in the assessment of laboratory reports. •    Participates in training for new staff or new procedures. •    Review and assist staff with the evaluation, management, and documentation of donor reactions, post donation reports, risk management reports, and customer complaint forms. •    Works with team to Oversee satisfactory completion of all donor records.

Job Qualifications

•    Associates degree in healthcare required, BSN preferred. •    Minimum 1 years of acute care nursing experience OR 1-3 years previous blood banking, apheresis, and phlebotomy experience. •    Must have current Massachusetts RN licensure. •    Maintain current BLS card. •    Previous Electronic Medical Record Software (EMR) experience preferred. •    Blood Establishment Computer Software (BECS) experience preferred.

The pay range for this position is $42.12/hour – 52.07/hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
