Summarized Purpose:

The Sr. Pharmacy Tech Specialist acts as support to the pharmacist in all areas of drug administration, preparation, storage, and accountability. Essential Functions:

Assists in preparation of doses.

Administers doses to subjects.

Assists in accounting for all drug supplies received including receipt, dispensation, and return of drug and documentation.

Prepares and reviews the accuracy of labels used in repackaging drug.

Ensures proper drug storage conditions are maintained.

Ensures supplies used for dosing and dispensing are well stocked.

Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of the training program for new dosers and the annual review of existing dosers.

Attends protocol meetings as required.

Discusses potential and ongoing studies with sponsors, explaining PPD’s procedures and responding to sponsor requests regarding handling of drug.

Participates in cross training with other departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent required Active Florida Pharmarcy Technichan license required IVexperience required 4 years pharmacy technician experience with at least 2 years pharmacy experience working in a phase I clinical, hospital, or research setting or previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 6 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience. Pharmacy technician certificaiton preferred

Working Conditions and Environment: Work is performed in an office or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Occasional drives to site locations. Potential Occasional travel required. Exposure to high pressure, intense concentration needed Must pay constant attention to detail-visual, mental Must be able to multi-task constantly Frequent interaction with clients / associates required Long, varied hours required occasionally Travel and rotating shifts required on rare occasions Exposure to toxic materials on rare occasions

Physical Requirements: Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours per day. Standing and walkingrequired daily. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Crouching / stooping required frequently. Kneeling, twisting of upper body / neck, and pushing / pulling of items required occasionally. Lifting / carrying objects of 5-25 lbs. required daily Lifting / carrying objects of 26-50 lbs. required occasionally Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. May interact with others, relating and gathering sensitive information. Interaction includes diverse groups. Works with guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management. May require periods of intense concentration. Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
