Product Owner /Project Manager

Purpose of the Job

Daily breakup of job will be Product owner 60% and 40% project management.  We are looking for a motivated product owner with experience in leading a product through its entire lifecycle.  The role requires you to be part of an Agile Scrum Team and facilitate the prioritisation, creation and constant updating of the backlog through Jira, to ensure the product roadmap is understood and driven.  From a project management perspective, you will ensure that resources are correctly allocated, time recording is completed, and budgets are adhered too.  Risk and issue management/mitigation will be required to align all stakeholders and keep the level of engagement of all parties high.

  • Defines and delivers one or more concurrent projects ensuring assigned projects are conducted professionally and delivered according to agreed business objectives, schedule and budget.
  • Ensures team is supported with regards to Training, hiring, motivation and team building activities
  • Liaises with cross-functional teams such as: Business stakeholders, Technical Architecture, Operations & Production and Production Services (Support) groups as necessary to ensure the successful delivery of required projects.
  • Liaises with and ensures effective communication to stakeholders/product owners and other third party agencies as necessary to ensure roll out of the product.

The product – Xpedit.

Xpedit is the strategic solution to manage the customisation of data for client deliverables. It supports the creation and maintenance of customised product groupings and geography structures and is fully integrated into the wider strategic architecture.

Development started in 2019 and the product is now deployed in UK, France and Finland. Further enhancements are planned for 2021 and beyond, along with new deployments in North Europe.

The product is typically used by internal production and client services teams, but ultimately the objective is to offer Xpedit directly to clients outside the IQVIA organisation on a self-service model

Principal Accountabilities

  • Under general direction, is responsible for the development team within Poland and Bangalore and to ensure that development team follows Agile best practice.
  • Own the end-to-end product, ensuring stakeholder input is captured, prioritised and maintained in the backlog
  • Interfaces with all areas affected by the project including internal commercial customers, subject matter experts, production and support, and leads small to medium sized cross-functional teams drawn from these and other groups. 
  • Understanding of the product, the roadmap for that product and the promotion internally of that product.  You will need 2 to 3 years’ experience in managing a team of designers, developers, application architects and stakeholders in order to best position the product and gather requirements for product enhancements.
  • Attend all product Scrum ceremonies and look for continual improvements that can be adopted within the team.
  • General project management control within the project – time, cost, quality, resources.
  • Complete ownership of the backlog and the product roadmap.
  • Make creative recommendations to expand the product base and vision

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in maintaining a variety of priorities and getting buy in from stakeholders on the order of the priorities for the product
  • Good product knowledge of IT systems and the integration of big data systems into legacy systems.  Further advantage is if you have worked in extraction of big data systems based on a series of complex business rules.
  • Project management education and experience with focus on product delivery and driving the timelines/tasks/resources to complete quickly and effectively.
  • Exceptional English communication skills are needed as much of the communication is by telephone and telecon.
  • Experience of managing remote teams in an on-shore/off-shore model
  • Experience in understanding business needs and interpreting them into technical requirements

Candidate Requirements

  • Be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and can work proactively.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a proven track record of successful software delivery, including balancing delivery time against budget and client needs.
  • Creative / innovative with sound administration ability.
  • Experience working at implementing and driving Agile methodologies which enforce more effective product delivery to stakeholders
  • Must be detail focussed, with the underlying priority of delivery being key to your personality.
  • You need to demonstrate your collaborative abilities, on multiple levels, such as technical, management and stakeholders.
  • Be able to produce and review product requirements in collaboration with multiple other countries
  • A pragmatic approach to prioritisation, weighing all the information from various countries to steer the product roadmap.
  • Challenge and engage with stakeholders to ensure product visibility and roadmap is understood.
