Director, Compliance – African Region

The Director, Compliance, is responsible for implementation of IQVIA’s global healthcare compliance (HCC) and anti-bribery/anti-corruption (ABAC) compliance. Establishes standards and implements procedures to help ensure compliance programs throughout the organization are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting, and remedying non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies and procedures; and helps drive an ethical culture of doing the right thing.
Maintains current knowledge of laws and regulations; develops annual compliance work plan for the region; provides reports and guidance, as applicable, to senior management, staff, and employees on ethics and compliance matters; support internal compliance risk identification, reviews and monitors activities; investigates matters related to compliance; develops, assesses, and implements compliance training and education; and develops and supports business conduct and compliance-oriented audits. This position is responsible for developing close relationships and strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders within IQVIA. This position will report to the Regional Senior Director Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Drive process improvement and standardization practices within the function and coordinate the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist BD groups with responses to RFP compliance related questions from potential clients.
- Support compliance related activities for acquisitions and integrations
- Partner with ECO leaders and staff to execute Plan activities, including conducting HCC risk assessments, audits and monitoring.
- Work closely with other company departments including legal, internal audit, human resources, and safety and security to ensure effective implementation and communication of compliance and ethics programs.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to incorporate relevant monitoring and audit findings into further Plan development and activities, HCC policies and procedures, and HCC training/communications (closed loop program management)
- Host, manage and support ABAC/HCC related customer audits or vendor audits, including overseeing and reporting on progress of mitigation plans
- Participate on joint HCC and ABAC customer committees
- Serve as ambassador for ECO program across IQVIA globally
- Engage and motivate other businesses and functions to drive accountability to the ECO program and maintain effective roles and responsibilities
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Master’s degree and 8 years of directly-related experience or Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of directly-related experience
- 5 years of Healthcare Compliance (HCC) risk assessment, monitoring, auditing and data analytics experience in the life sciences (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device) industry
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant global equivalents and industry codes, (e.g., IFPMA, EFPIA, PhRMA, AdvaMed, MedTech)
- Experience in conducting compliance audits related to U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), U.K. Bribery Act and other relevant global anti-corruption laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to deliver against critical business objectives on budget and on time, implement complex instructions, prioritize, be proactive, resolve conflicts, follow through on assignments, and be a team player
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and provide a high level of responsiveness across multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment and initiative in handling business issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, compliance or accounting
- Relevant auditing or compliance professional certifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Life sciences outsourcing (e.g., CRO) experience
- Demonstrated ability to identify and help deliver on process improvements

- Travel up to 30% per year; including international travel
