Role

Medical technician is to ensure that the Referral Laboratory Management is meeting the highest quality standards of management of referral laboratory results.

He / She should have a technical background or experience in oversight of referral lab results, managing pending, status updates with both external lab vendors and internal teams, and manual result entry of results received on lab reports from contracted referral laboratories.

Job ResponsibilitiesAccepts direction and instructions from the senior referral laboratory management team.Responsible for the quality and timelines of technical oversight and compliance with applicable company, CAP, and local regulatory agency testing requirements.Perform review and assessment of results received from referral laboratory, ensuring appropriate detail is carried through from referral lab reports and captured in ICON systems. These should be processed within agreed turnaround times.Identify and consult with referral laboratory management staff prior to reporting any questionable report findings, work through resolution.Responsible for ensuring that pending results are monitored and triaged appropriately. Query performing laboratory for status updates and/or escalations received internally.Raise any repeat issues, test cancellations, or other to the referral laboratory management team, support in finding a resolution.Responsible for appropriate electronic filing of referral laboratory reports received.Assists with responding to queries and quality issues, and participates in root cause analysis investigations as directed by laboratory management team.Reports to and is responsible to Supervisor/Manager for daily operation and evaluation of work performance.To carry out specific tasks relevant to the general running of the referral laboratory management team as assigned.

Skills/ExperiencePrior relevant experience successfully performing as a Technician or significant proven experience supporting development activities.Associates degree or local equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology or a diploma in Biomedical Science and a significant component of which involved the study of Chemistry, Haematology, Immunology, and/or Infectious Diseases.A BSc degree or local equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science majoring in Chemistry, Haematology, Immunology, and/or Infectious Diseases preferred
