The Legal Specialist in Germany will join the European Legal Affairs team and report to the Legal Director, based in Frankfurt. The Frankfurt Legal Department is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the management and specialist departments in Germany and our European locations (especially in Austria and Switzerland). They are part of the EMEA Legal Team, reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, as well as part of the Corporate Legal Department, supporting our colleagues there in all legal/contractual issues and matters.


The responsibility of a Legal Specialist is to assist the IQVIA’s business teams with client contracts, subsidiary organization, corporate filings, project management and legal research. The Legal Specialist is the resource for contractual questions and issues to both internal and external customers.

The position is to be based at our German headquarter in Frankfurt.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You will support the Director Legal in the diverse tasks of day-to-day legal business in all areas of law and on a wide range of issues.

  • Prepare initial drafts of contracts, revise contracts and prepare execution copies; track contracts in database; establish and maintain contract files; prepare and send client correspondence.

  • Provide oversight for maintenance of the company's corporate subsidiary records and legal filings.

  • Interact internally and externally with executive level management and legal counsel on issues requiring negotiation.

  • Prepare summaries for executed Master Service Agreements (MSAs)/Amendments and distribute, as directed.

  • Produce monthly report tracking MSAs with expiration dates and review contract provisions for adherence to current contracting standards.

  • Undertake projects and respond to internal and external requests, forwarding issues to appropriate individuals, as needed.

  • Participate in the development of department procedures to improve the timely completion of contract deliverables.

  • Act as team member in dedicated Legal Negotiation Team to ensure consistency in approach, metrics, and format for assigned customers.

  • Support Sales staff in communicating with customers; serve as Subject Matter Expert and contact for specific customers as needed.

  • Work as a team with other areas of Global Contracts and Global Market Development, Finance and IQVIA’ Operations to understand and review project requirements and determine how contract terms and conditions are affected.

  • Ensure delivery of a final contract in a timely fashion, working independently or as part of a team.

  • Identify support required from Attorney on contract terms that require extensive negotiation.

  • Support departmental activities directed toward meeting planned and projected Corporate goals including sales/revenue/customer satisfaction goals.

Your Profile:

  • First and second legal state exams have been attained with above average results, a Doctorate in Law would be advantageous.

  • International legal professional experience and/or education (L.L.M.) will be favorably considered.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding for at least two of the following focus areas: corporate and civil law, data protection laws and mergers & acquisitions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to handle complex legal issues that require creativity paired with a thorough understanding of the business and a complex organizational structure.

  • Prior experience in working closely together with line functions and management, in particular with Marketing and Sales, in preparing and accompanying contract negotiations would be of advantage.

  • Ability to priorities, handle multiple projects, as well as being reliable in terms of work delivery, established timelines and deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Perform independent legal research, work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to review, comprehend and explain contract terms to customers, as well as handle confidential information appropriately.

  • Excellent negotiating skills with the ability to communicate well at all relevant levels with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A strong pro-active attitude combined with sound legal and business judgement.

  • Strong skills using MS Office Suite: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.

  • Fluent Germany knowledge (written & spoken) and intermediate English knowledge (written and spoken) are mandatory.
