PPD currenlty havean exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist/Programmer to join our Technology Innovation group based anywhere in EMEA.

In this role you will execute advanced analytics modelling based on exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets through application of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modelling, simulation, and/or advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, and generate valuable predictive business insights in support of innovative business decisions. You will support organisation leadership through data-driven decision validation and support.

Essential Functions The successful candidate will need to be data proficient - likes to use data to make decisions as well as technically intuitive and enjoy learning new technology. User-focused - Keeps user needs in mind. Thoughtful about what’s intuitive for others, what’s not and why In depth knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Snowflake, AWS EMR, Python, Spark, R, Spotfire, Microsoft Power Platform, Shiny, jupyter, and associated packages and libraries from numpy, pandas, SciPy or NLTK Thorough knowledge of and exposure to cloud architectures e.g., NoSQL, lambda functions, kafka, sagemaker, tensorflow, etc. Generates and tests hypotheses and analyzes and interprets the results. Navigates large, complex datasets for data mining, profiling, and curation, and natural language processing (NLP), as well as identifies related data that is fundamental to successfully applying predictive and machine learning techniques. Designs, develops and programs methods, processes, and software programs to consolidate, cleanse, and analyze unstructured, diverse data sources to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, and generate actionable business insights and solutions. Designs, develops, and evaluates predictive models and algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data to support business process improvements and solve business challenges. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources in support of continuous improvement efforts and business process upgrades through exploratory data analysis. To be considered for the role you should have the following Experience, Education and Skills: MS/MA degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field and at least 3 years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job requirements, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or related field or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification, and at least 5 years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job requirements. Data proficient - likes to use data to make decisions Technically intuitive – likes learning new technology tools and able to do so quickly In depth knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Snowflake, AWS, Python, R, .Net, jupyter, Spotfire, Microsoft Power Platform, Shiny, Python, and associated packages and libraries (numpy, pandas, NLTK, etc.) User-focused - Keeps user needs in mind. Thoughtful about what’s intuitive for others, what’s not and why Experience demonstrating a strong attention to detail Experience demonstrating leadership ability and ability to work on a multi-disciplinary project team Excellent problem solving and innovative skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills Ability to independently and effectively organize and manage multiple assignments with challenging timelines Ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities Demonstrated positive attitude, enthusiasm toward work, and the ability to work well with others Clinical trial experience Ability to train, mentor and supervise others Understanding of relational data base and experience working with complex data systems
