IQVIA Launch Center of Excellence (CoE)

The IQVIA Launch CoE has researched thousands of launches and knows “what good looks like” on KPIs, forecast attainment, launch planning and other key factors that will inform launch planning to help ensure success.

The Launch CoE has supported 150+ launches in the last couple of years from a strategy, planning and execution perspective.  The team has supported 50+ launches from a launch planning and project management perspective. This includes building cross-functional launch plans, housing the plans in launch tools built by IQVIA or by clients, updating the plans and running launch readiness meetings on an ongoing basis.

This team works with launch and senior management across the industry every day, all year, to understand “what works” and to tailor our launch planning methodologies. Our Launch CoE team is growing and to support this growth, we are looking for a Launch Manager to join our US team.  Working closely with senior leaders, you will be responsible for managing teams in the design, development and successful delivery of launch planning and management engagements.

The Position

Profile Description

Launch Managers are demonstrated leaders and have managed launches for other pharmaceutical companies either on the client side or as a consultant.  They can develop, review and manage the day-to-day launch plans and provide strategic perspectives. With the support of the on-site Launch Managers across multiple clients and engagements, Launch Managers will provide each team with tailored launch plan management, which includes but is not limited to, coordinating launch planning processes and ensuring best-practice sharing across the launch teams. In addition, they will triage with Launch Managers to establish standardization and standard operating procedures.

They will continuously identify potential future risks and concerns, facilitate monthly alignment with senior management on readiness status, follow-up with functional area owners on delayed launch activities to ensure appropriate corrective action, and facilitate formalized review dates (Launch Readiness Meetings) to ensure alignment across functions. They will work closely with marketing leaders and cross-functional leaders, facilitating meetings and creating presentations and deliverables. They are capable of managing individual launches as overseeing the effort of on-site Launch Managers.

They have full access to experts across IQVIA to investigate unforeseen market dynamic changes that can impact launch planning. Launch Managers support business development efforts by identifying additional client needs outside of launch planning and management to help grow IQVIA revenues, holistically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives
  • Works directly with clients to provide value- added input and to deliver projects built around strategic issues
  • Serves as key point of contact with client for directly managed initiatives
  • Leverages business experience and acumen in identifying strategic alternatives and project approach to client questions
  • Manages project teams including both internal and external resources in the design, development and delivery of client deliverables for launch planning and management engagements
  • Ensures clear communication throughout projects and within the team
  • Managing and developing client relationships through face-to-face and remote interactions
  • Provides follow-up with client after project deliverable has been completed to ensure client satisfaction
  • Identifying new leads and opportunities for follow-on work
  • Supporting development of proposals
  • Supporting the development of intellectual property for use on future engagements
  • Developing broader and deeper knowledge of launch planning and management methodologies and pharmaceutical market through on the job experience and training
  • Actively participating in recruitment, and learning and development initiative
  • Coaching project team members and supporting them to fulfill their personal objectives
  • Coaching junior staff (not just in projects)

The Individual

Experience

  • 3-5 years professional experience in consulting within the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with evidence of career progression
  • Has worked on at least 2-4 launches
  • Deep understanding of launch and the various functions required to support drug commercialization
  • Experience developing cross-functional, integrated launch plans and managing launch tools (Excel-based or Web-based) to help facilitate launch preparation
  • Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
  • Considerable project management experience
  • Experience working on-site at client
  • Has managed junior team members on launch planning engagements
  • Experience managing small to medium sized projects, setting and meeting deadlines as well as managing client expectations
  • Understanding of patient and physician level data

  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong capability in managing projects and juggling priorities
  • Natural ability to develop credible relationships with senior level managers and executives in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals
  • Ability to retain consistently high quality outcomes under time pressure
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Core skills in using consulting methodologies, tools and techniques

Qualifying Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Graduate degree or MBA not required but a plus
  • Demonstrable experience in and commitment to the life sciences and/or healthcare industries
  • A track record of management, leadership and people development
  • Evidence of ongoing career progression
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • A willingness and ability to travel at least 50% of the time
