We are looking for an Support technician in Animal Health who wishes to be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and animal welfare minded team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE VIVARIUM OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT:

- Prepare and decontaminate animal rooms according to schedule; 

- Ensure that the required study materials are available; 

- Ensure adequate and accessible food and water supplies for all animals at all times; 

- Handle the animals for any activity that requires it; 

- Record computerized data and complete verification documents;

- Understand, adhere to and implement organizational standard operating procedures (SOPs); 

- Remove domestic and biomedical waste and dispose of in appropriate containers;

- Operate the cage washer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ANIMAL CARE DEPARTMENT:

- Ensure an adequate and accessible supply of food and water for all animals at all times; 

- Clean all types of animal housing and accessories; 

- Accompany the animals in their physical exercises and enrichment activities;   

- Handle animals for any activity that requires it; 

- Record computerized data and complete verification documents; 

- Understand, follow and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); 

- Remove domestic and biomedical waste and dispose of in appropriate containers. 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS :

- Ability to maintain regular physical effort required to lift, push and move equipment and animals;

- High school diploma 3;

- Experience working with animals is an asset;

- Ability to read and understand English, Bilingualism is an asset;

- Ability to work in a team environment;

- Ability to manage time effectively;

- Ability to work in a team environment; 

- Ability to manage time effectively; 

- Ability to adapt to change;

- Flexibility to work a variety of hours including weekends, as well as the possibility of overtime evenings and nights as needed;

- Working knowledge of computer applications related to the position.

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

15$ per hour

Friday, Saturday and Sunday for 10 hours per day for a total of 30 hours, but paids for 37,5 hours.
