Provide quality finished product to all customers ordering embryos and/or eggs while overseeing the overall effectiveness and performance of the Packing and Shipping Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Oversee special projects (e.g. selecting eggs for breeder replacement, working with upper management to select eggs for franchise placement). Supervise and oversee the training of the Packing and Shipping team on finishing procedures, UPS, truck, and export documentation. Maintain and complete all daily reports and trip sheets. Support Customer Service with daily egg inventory. Coordinate interaction between Customer Service, processing, production management, delivery drivers, freight forwarders and domestic carriers to ensure efficient and timely delivery of product. Ensure adequate level of supplies is on-hand for packing and shipping, including flock and customer stamps. Perform and document Corrective Action Requests relating to packing of orders. Provide leadership and commitment to the Quality process. Maintain biosecurity standards and ensure adherence to SOPs. Organize and maintain cleanliness of Distribution cooler/building. Supervise and participate in the maintenance and monitoring of equipment (e.g. temperature levels, humidity levels, calibration, etc.) Manage activities of assigned group to ensure performance and adherence to pertinent departmental policies, practices, and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols.]  Schedule and prioritize workload of group members. Assist in the interview and selection of qualified non-exempt personnel.  Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions and raises.  Partner with Human Resources and departmental management to assist in the handling of disciplinary issues.  Draft appropriate personnel action paperwork. Assist in the development, implementation, and delivery of departmental training programs; ensure that direct reports receive departmental orientation and necessary on-the-job training.  Oversee maintenance of group training manual and training records. Monitor performance of direct reports.  Assist in preparation and delivery of salary and performance reviews of direct reports. Schedule overtime as authorized.  Review and approve timecards.  Coordinate vacation/time off schedules. Recommend short-range operating objectives, organizational structure, and scheduling of staffing requirements.  Assist in the development of a departmental plan for backup and succession of key technical personnel. Generate and maintain weekly flock inventory, farm production and saleable egg reporting system. May assist in development of departmental budget. Ensure optimum performance of group function.  Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices. Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of departmental systems and SOPs.  Assist in the development and communication of job descriptions for subordinate positions. Ensure that departmental equipment is maintained in good working condition and that departmental area(s) are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications

•    Education:  Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent

•    Experience:  4 years related experience and/or training

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Certification/Licensure:  None

•    Other:  Working knowledge of computers. Ability to supervise and lead others. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be available seven days a week.
