Basic Summary We are seeking a Manager Microbiology for our Biologics Testing Solutions site located in Malvern.   You may be required to work a rotating shift schedule that may require weekend hours.

 Responsible for managing the company's business as it relates to environmental monitoring, bacterial identification, bacterial cell banking, sterility testing, bioburden testing, and mycoplasma testing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  Ensure on-time delivery of all client projects related to microbiological services.  Supervise staff, support the customer service department, and provide excellent service to customers.  Responsible for refinement and development of assays as needed to meet current industry standards and the subsequent training of technical personnel who will perform the assays on a day-to-day basis.  Manage activities of assigned group(s) to ensure effective performance of function.  Interview and select qualified exempt- and non-exempt level departmental personnel. Recommend, review and approve personnel actions, including hiring, promotions and raises. Partner with Human Resources in the handling of disciplinary issues. Prepare and/or approve appropriate personnel action paperwork.  Identify training and development needs of direct reports. Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation; monitor training programs to ensure ongoing effectiveness.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in microbiology or related discipline.  Minimum 2 years related experience as a laboratory supervisor.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.  Knowledge of cGMPs or regulatory affairs pertaining to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries is also necessary.
