Job Summary BASIC SUMMARY:

Provide technical leadership on all daily activities and the ability to formulate, evaluate and choose courses of action when interacting with others regarding necropsy issues. As a Team Leader, one is a role model for the Necropsy Technicians and should actively promote teamwork in all aspects of each necropsy activity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee necropsy procedures to ensure that they are conducted in accordance with the study protocol and relevant SOPs, performed consistently and recorded correctly. Assist in the review of necropsy raw data. Ensure that all appropriate necropsy observations are confirmed. Promote teamwork within the Necropsy department and between Necropsy and other departments. Ensure necropsy laboratory equipment is maintained, and adequate supplies and reagents are available. Assist in generating and/or reviewing the weekly Necropsy schedule. Ensure that weekend Necropsy laboratory assignments have been communicated to personnel and that they understand what needs to be completed. Direct and prioritize the training of Necropsy personnel as appropriate. Ensure that the Necropsy laboratory spaces are always clean, tidy and in a state of readiness for Sponsor or regulatory agency visits.. Participate in Necropsy procedures as scheduled. Attend protocol meetings to confirm necropsy procedures and support Necropsy staff in review of and preparation for study conduct. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or equivalent. Experience: 2 to 4 years necropsy experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Other: Good communication, time management and leadership skills. Must be able to meet all requirements and competencies of a Necropsy Technician III at time of hire or within a short duration after as guided by a development plan.
