The role

Direct and lead the demand generation and operations of clinical trials for the Medical Technology / Device sector estimated to be an annual business of USD$20M with accountability for successful project and program delivery.  Geographical coverage will include all of Asia Pacific and Japan with some elements of China included.  Work together with the business development teams to engage with Medical Technology / Device clients, develop clinical trial strategy/solutions for their assets and support delivery teams through a matrix structure in successful execution of these projects. Develop plans to ensure the allocation of human, material, system and fiscal resources for assigned area of accountability.  Determine strategic goals and objectives for the area and ensure operational alignment with senior management priorities.  Lead and direct functional strategic initiatives and partner with key stakeholders to develop implementation plans

While projects vary, your typical responsibilities might include:

  • Actively manage business development activities to generate new business to a target determined in conjunction with IQVIA regional management
  • Lead thought leadership initiatives in the Medical Technology / Device space that will differentiate IQVIA as a delivery partner
  • Manage staff where applicable in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems. Approve actions on human resources matters.
  • Actively provide guidance and review of the scope of work, objectives, timelines, quality of deliverables, and other clinical project management activities for studies and programs.
  • Coach and mentor employees around project planning, project review, risk management and problem solving to ensure global alignment of work practices across the team through the adoption and use of all process and technology tools and improvements by employees.
  • Obtain and provide regular feedback to employees from other clinical project team members and key stakeholders to assist in personal and professional development. May attend project team meeting and site visits in order to support development needs. Identify skill and competency gaps at the individual level and work to craft appropriate development plans.
  • Act as a key relationship manager for assigned clients; recommend courses of action regarding client management issues; ensure that plans are implemented following approval by senior management.
  • May act as point of contact or oversight for specific customers or programs.
  • Provide technical expertise and clinical project management experience to project management and training and process improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a project management liaison with other groups within IQVIA.
  • Provide consultation to clients on medical device process, strategy, and plans as needed.
  • Participate in function and/or corporate initiatives, special project assignments, and as a client liaison or departmental cross-functional liaison.

You will need to be comfortable collaborating and communicating with a variety of colleagues and customers. Ideally you will also have some global experience, and a medical technology / device background.

Minimum requirements:

You should have:

  • A strong academic track record including minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a relevant graduate qualification and 8-10 years professional experience in consulting, Medical Technology / Device or life sciences industry with evidence of career progression
  • Have at least 5 years of operational experience managing Medical Technology / Device studies
  • Demonstrable experience in and commitment to the life sciences and/or healthcare industries
  • A track record of leadership and people development
  • Right to live and work in the recruiting country
  • A willingness and ability to travel

Skills & Experience

  • Clinical Trials Medical Technology / Device experience
  • Experience in developing credible relationships with senior level managers and executives in the Medical Technology / Device industry
  • Ability to contribute to business development through the identification of leads, development of proposals etc
  • Thought leadership of key issues and current developments in the Medical Technology / Device industries
