As the Operational Manager of Site Reliability Engineering team, you will lead the Cloud Operations Team which supply our Solution Deployment, Service Operations teams & ultimately our end user clients with flawless and predicable execution of the cloud platform operations. We are building a global cloud offering which operates under GxP regulations yet still must be able to offer a very high degree of repeatably through automation & orchestration.

The Site Reliability Engineering team is focused on the Azure Cloud Operations, implementing the policies, standards and templates for use globally for all our Technology enable services including the instantiation of Azure globally (e.g., India, China). Strategic tooling services such as platform wide configuration management, orchestration and integrations into other key systems such as ServiceNow form key areas for this team.

This team works hand in hand with the Platform Engineering, Deployment Engineering, R&D Solution Groups & Service Operations to bring the market led features to fruition through providing & improving the CICD lifecycle which suits the product. Contributing to and building out end to end solution automation & orchestration.

Significant experience in technology operations as you will drive the build & delivery culture that supports a ‘design for service’ outcome working closely with the Associate Director of Site Reliability Engineering. Knowledge of SRE will be required in supporting this outcome.

• Cross functional collaboration to improve incident response & service restoration

• Drive metrics and discipline to make everything production reliable through SLO & SLI’s

• Improving service observability

• Providing education of cloud and emerging technologies across the organisation

• Ensuring deliveries meet with stakeholder requirements & timelines

• Environment optimisation & management

• Capturing and managing demand against capacity and skills to meet with the needs of our stakeholdersQualifications

Skills & Experience:

• Microsoft Azure PaaS & IaaS, Office365 & PowerApps delivery & management experience

• Engineering team management across different countries & cultures including of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience

• Managing complex and client driven demand across a global engineering team including building and supporting critical services with a focus on automation, availability and performance

• Good understanding of CI/CD pipeline build, improvement and management

• Exposure to configuration management and orchestration tools across cloud and traditional technologies

• Exposure to system and application level telemetry for large distributed & micro services cloud architectures

• Understanding of building cloud services within regulated environments will be beneficial, experience in a regulated industry is essential

• Experience & knowledge of common CICD tools such as: Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy, TeamCity, Jenkins, Ansible, Mercurial, BitBucket. Knowledge of similar products will also be useful.

• Experience of robust and repeatable automation of non-cloud native products into cloud IaaS typically with Java applications, Oracle and web tiers.

• Cloud build out within China experience highly desirable

Knowledge, Education & Experience:

• Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science field, or equivalent or has performed in operational managerial roles, preferably of public cloud for a minimum of 3 years

• Experience with 24/7 site monitoring and ability to own uptime & performance SLA’s

• Strong foundational knowledge and prior experience with implementing SRE practices within a team

• Microsoft Azure Certifications would be of benefit

• Excellent knowledge of ITIL V3 or V4, Foundation certification is desirable

• Fluent in English both written and oral.
