Responsible for coordination and distribution of Global Safety Assessment supply of assigned species. Works closely with Safety Assessment (SA) sites on forecasting demand and ensuring supply to meet demand. Works with site leaders, Vet Teams and Logistic Coordinators to organize and arrange shipments of animals, assist with troubleshooting issues, ensure proper documentation and client interface as needed. Act as a liaison between animal suppliers and SA sites for information relating to inventory, logistics and transport. Act as the subject matter expert for information from inventory management systems. Supports inventory analysis process; provides recommendations on inventory movement from supplier to SA sites based on demand forecast, study schedules and available inventory Drives creation and implementation of inventory management processes and software and communication processes to SA sites. Proactively identifies and implements process improvements Interfaces regularly with scientific leadership to determine trends in usage. Createively and proactively resolves inventory gaps. Develps and maintains key performance metrics on quality, delivery timeliness and transportation. Provides regular strategic updates to key suppliers to ensure supply is commensurate with CR demand. Analyzes trends in usage and provides regular updates to SA senior leadership. Works closely with procurement specialists in contract development and compliance. Creates and delivers client-facing and senior leadership presentations to support client discussions related to supply. Participates in client discussions as SME for assigned species including, but not limited to contract discussions. Job Qualifications Education:   Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in life science, business or related discipline.  Six Sigma or other process excellence experience preferred.   Experience:   Five (5) or more years’ experience in the research industry with a minimum of one year in procurement.  Experience directly or indirectly managing people or teams in remote locations.  Experience interacting with regulatory agencies with oversight of the research industry (i.e. USDA).  Experience with maintaining an animal data base.  Five years direct customer interface experience required.  Experience working or supporting lab animal husbandry/ operations preferred.  Experience with animal breeding and commercial operations preferred.  

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  Other:   Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, high sense of urgency and prioritization. Able to lead complex business discussions and negotiations with key decision makers using excellent communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Enos, SAP
