Responsible for developing, implementing, conducting, coordinating, and administering new hire training, global training, and conducting technical laboratory and research staff training.  Create or assist in the creation of training manuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•    Develop, train, and certify new and active employees in all of the following areas, but not limited to: Use and interpretation of Standard Operating Procedures  Use and interpretation of protocols Use and interpretation of reports Specific department procedures

•    Introduce laboratory staff to administrative functions (e.g., protocol development through final reporting).

•    Introduce laboratory and research staff to the vivarium and laboratory functions (e.g., first day dosing, clinical signs, blood collections, necropsy, etc.).  

•    Manage the integration and globalization of training for laboratory and research personnel.

•    Develop training schedules and produce departmental orientation materials for new hires.  

•    Responsible for the continuous review of procedures and techniques in an effort to improve quality and efficiency within the dynamics of the department.   

•    Perform training of laboratory and research personnel in basic and intermediate level laboratory techniques and procedures.  

•    Mentor staff with the goal of developing and improving their overall technical abilities.  

•    Update and maintain training files for all personnel on a timely basis.  

•    Develop and maintain written instruction guides to further support training and provide reference materials for continual use.

•    Document training activities and assess individual abilities.

•    Develop training schedules and produce departmental orientation materials for new hires.

•    Continuously review procedures and techniques in an effort to improve quality and efficiency within the dynamics of the growing department.

•    Further self-training on new and established techniques with the goal of developing mastery.

•    Serve as secondary and provide coverage for the Tumor Maintenance Lead.

•    Perform all other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications

•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S. ) degree in a scientific discipline;  M.S. degree in a scientific/teaching discipline preferred.

•    Experience:  Two or more years experience in developing and conducting training.  One year of hands on technical experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or other suitable setting.   

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification desirable.
