Global research on COVID-19 is available in new WHO database
The World Health Organization (WHO), through the Library and Digital Information Network Unit, coordinated by Ian Roberts, has developed, with the support of the Latin American and Caribbean Center for Health Sciences Information (BIREME), a PAHO/WHO Specialized Center of the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health (EIH), a search interface to provide a global research database on the new coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, reusing the Global Index Medicus (GIM) platform. The efforts of the teams allowed this development to take place in record time, overcoming technical challenges and adapting professionals to teleworking.
As a result, WHO brings together in a database the latest findings and international multilingual scientific knowledge about COVID-19. The global literature cited in the WHO COVID-19 database is updated daily from searches in bibliographic databases, manual search and addition of other scientific articles referred by experts. This database represents a comprehensive multilingual source of current literature on the topic. While it may not be exhaustive, new research is added regularly.
