Job Summary We are seeking an Associate Operations Manager for our Insourcing Solutions Department located in Wilmington, MA.

Provide direction. leadership and training  of personnel and operations to maintain performance levels consistent with and according to client and company standards.  Manages a staff of animal care supervisors, research support staff, veterinary technicians, animal care technicians, and animal facility attendants, and collaborates with the client veterinary and administrative support staff. 

The following are responsibilities relate to the Associate Operations Manager: Assists in information gathering and sourcing candidates for new and current contracts. Acts as corporate liaison to designated contract business clients to assess contract performance - including meeting or exceeding standards with respect to animal health and welfare, facilities condition, sanitation levels and facility security.  Reports findings to Operations Manager  with recommendations for improvements. Actively interacts with client representatives as required to respond and facilitate the resolution of problems, including, but not limited to the allocation of space, use of equipment and personnel, diagnosis of and control of disease, provisions of animal care and adequate veterinary care. Supports site leadership to build competence among employees by participating in appropriate training activities and through appropriate supervisory related activities (e.g. recruitment, separation, performance appraisal, disciplinary actions, etc.).  Participates in employee programs and activities.  Supports and affirms the company policy of Equal Opportunity through Affirmative Action. Conduct walkthroughs at assigned facilities to assist the operations managers. Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with all applicants, clients, vendors and company personnel Job Qualifications The following are minimum qualifications related to the position Associate Operations Manager: Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal science or related field of study required. Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience years of experience in multi-species vivarium management experience and/or laboratory animal science technology for a laboratory animal program required. Demonstrable experience with managing direct/indirect costs, barrier and conventional facilities, working with large and small animals An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) preferred. Other: Knowledge of laboratory animal facilities operations. Understanding of animal husbandry and in-vivo technical skills. Ability to adapt and respond timely to the needs of client to ensure that excellent customer service is always provided. ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
