.At Distributed Bio, now a part of Charles River Laboratories, our mission is to define a new paradigm in revolutionary bioengineered medicines for the biotechnology industry. In monoclonal therapeutics, our integration of computational immunology, bioengineering and robotics has enabled us to create a pipeline of molecules with unprecedented biophysical properties, while also supporting our partners with developable antibodies against any drug target of interest.

Our ability to discover antibodies against challenging pMHC, pathogen toxins, GPCR and Ion Channel targets, as well as a novel high-throughput discovery of CAR-T, has resulted in the growth of our antibody discovery business.

 

Overview:

We are seeking a candidate with knowledge in the fields of Immunology, molecular Immunology and antibody discovery. This position will lead a team driving the experimental design and execution of research in antibody discovery, cell biology, immunology and assay development.  Major responsibilities will include working with internal teams and external partners to define and interrogate relevant biology and antibody mechanism of action, to enable lead candidate selection with the goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches. 

 

Responsibilities: Work closely with internal and external research partners on the design and execution of antibody discovery campaigns Supervise and mentor a team of 2-4 direct reports committed to delivering IND-enabling packages in support of these targets Oversee the generation and analysis of data from the Cell Biology team, and from across the organization Analyze data generated by the entire team to ensure consistency and quality Document data in lab notebook and ensure periodic peer review. Present data for review, group discussions, team meetings, to research partners and appropriate international conferences (ASGCT, AACR and others) Multi-task effectively and prioritize multiple projects. Advocate for technology development within the site: Work with other team leaders to develop and advance next-generation technologies to drive antibody discovery in the next 2-5 years Partner with key leaders at other CRL sites to enable successful project execution Contribute to the design and implementation of the CRL’s South San Francisco Bio-hub Keep current with latest scientific advances in the field, as a though leader and spokesperson for relevant research Present data for review in group discussions and team meetings, to internal and external stakeholders, and at appropriate international conferences (e.g., ASGCT, AACR, PEGS): Cell culture expertise including maintaining mammalian cell lines, isolating immune cells from PBMCs, cell differentiation in culture, and generating cell lines using lentiviral transduction and cell sorting as needed. Proficiency in multicolor flow cytometry techniques, including the proper usage of flow cytometry analyzers and sorters Proficiency with FlowJo and Prism for the analysis and presentation of data Familiarity with analytical methods including ELISA, multiplex cytokine assays etc. Familiarity with cell-based functional assays, including: proliferation and activation assays of primary immune cells and cell lines, and the use of reporter cell assays based on luminescence, ATP assay, calcium flux etc. Supervision of molecular biology techniques such as: RNA and DNA isolation, primer design, cloning, PCR and Real time PCR. Job Qualifications Qualifications:

  Masters or PhD in Immunology, antibody discovery, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience in industry strongly preferred Strong skills in mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry techniques are essential Demonstrated ability to lead a team and supervise experienced scientists Ability to design and deliver novel solutions to challenging problems Keen eye for detail and for keeping multiple projects moving along to timelines Highly motivated with a strong willingness to learn and grow Must be able to work productively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment Excellent communication skills are essential
