IMPORTANT:   In order to be considered for this position, a resume/CV must be uploaded and submitted during the application process.  Please make sure work history and education are added correctly.  Job Summary Charles River Laboratories has been a leader at the forefront of cell and gene therapy, Adeno-Associated virus or AAV vector production, adenovirus vector production, lentivirus vector production, retrovirus vector production, plasmid production, viral vector QC and analytical services, plasmid QC and analytical services, providing services and products to support this rapidly growing and increasingly important field. 

 

The Scientist I, Analytical Development/Quality Control is responsible for implementing knowledge, research, and expertise to successfully develop and execute new analytical assays for viral vectors  including AAV (Adeno Associated Virus). 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

•    Implement knowledge/expertise to successfully develop and execute chromatography-based assays for viral vectors (AAV, LVV, Adv, RVV, others) 

•    Utilize HPLC, AKTA, and other chromatography based systems

•    Work under the direction of the AD/QC Supervisor to promote internal research 

•    Work with Production to qualify and validate viral vector testing processes as directed by the AD/QC Supervisor 

•    Participate in decision-making processes within the project team by actively engaging in scientific and technical discussions 

•    Build credibility within lab group by performing high quality work 

•    Write, review, and revise production SOPs as aligned with updated procedures 

•    Other responsibilities as required  Job Qualifications  

•    B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with 5+ years of experience, or 

•    Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with 3+ years of experience 

•    At least 2 years of experience with development of chromatography-based methods (HPLC and AKTA) in the industry settings

•    Teaming and collaboration 

•    Great attention to detail 

•    Previous experience in contract manufacturing preferred 

•    Previous experience in a development role preferred 

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

•    Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 

•    Good critical thinking skills and technical skills  

•    Well organized, able to manage multiple projects at a time  

•    Strong ability to adapt, be flexible, and work independently and with resilience
