Associate Principal, Real World Solutions

Our Real World Solutions department is globally renowned for providing business focused research, conducted to the highest standards. The Real World Solutions team in Canada is focused on providing services for market access, HEOR, medical, and scientific teams.

The RWS team is searching for an Associate Principal to lead client engagements in the areas of Outcomes Research, Market Access, and Health Economics.

Project responsibilities:

  • Leads teams of consultants, analysts and statisticians in the design, development and delivery of RWS projects including larger, complex projects to a high standard which meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Designs the study approach and methodologies selecting from a spectrum of RWS capabilities in primary and secondary research methodologies, including the use of real world evidence (RWE) and administrative healthcare databases (eg. claims, prescriptions, electronic medical records, charts).
  • Provides high level input to and ensures development of the design, structure and delivery of study protocols, data outputs, client reports and presentations that are appropriate to the characteristics and needs of the client.
  • Recommends improvements and alternative solutions to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Associate Principals are expected to provide coaching and direction to more junior professionals assigned to engagements and across multiple projects.
  • The role also requires hands-on oversight, review, and quality control of all deliverables at the project level.
  • Responsible for final editorial review and signoff on all deliverables to clients.

Project management and client liaison responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for day-to-day project management and client management on projects.
  • Develops project plan with timelines and deliverables and leads project to successful completion, on-time and on-budget, from start to finish with minimal senior management guidance.
  • Manages communication with client and follows up with client after project deliverable has been completed to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Leads client and other external meetings supported by junior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Creates concise, effective client communications in written & oral forms.

Business development responsibilities:

  • With limited senior management input, reviews and analyzes client requirements and leads in the development of proposals outline project approach, study design, project plans & timelines, and pricing that meet client objectives as well as RWS business objectives.
  • Identifies new opportunities for follow-on work and new leads at existing clients.
  • Builds portfolio of client contacts as a source for future projects.
  • Acts as an ambassador of IQVIA and thought leader amongst peers and the broader client community, including representing IQVIA at conferences, client events, etc.
  • Established as a trusted advisor in the area of RWE, access and health economics within client organizations.
  • Authors peer review publications, whitepapers, conference presentations & abstracts.

Internal initiatives:

  • Proactively mentors, coaches and shares subject matter expertise with others to elevate our capabilities to deliver world-class solutions for clients.
  • Line management, coaching, mentoring and development responsibilities for employees and will assist with recruitment.
  • Understands and takes a role in implementing the RWS business vision and objectives.
  • Actively supports the strategic development of the business.


Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification in outcomes research, health economics, advanced analytics, public policy, health services research, business strategy or a relevant related area.
  • Ph.D. degree with strong emphasis in outcomes research, health economics, epidemiology, health services research, or public health policy, and/or an MBA with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry is desirable.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in undertaking database or health outcomes research, or in a relevant area such as healthcare analytics, epidemiology, pharmacovigilance, outcomes research, health economics, statistics, artificial intelligence & machine learning or public health.
  • 2+ years of pharmaceutical or healthcare consultancy experience highly preferred or other consulting, pharmaceutical/healthcare industry; academic or government research organization; or health services research setting.

Technical skills and knowledge:

  • Excellent understanding of outcomes research and RWE, including the objectives, data sources, methods, designs, implementation, and interpretation of results.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment, with a particular focus on Canadian pharmaceutical reimbursement and market access, including relevant stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of health economic concepts, and practical knowledge of model designs, implementation, and expectations of target stakeholders who critique those models, including HTA and payers.
  • High level of literacy – able to write reports and manuscripts in clear, accurate and concise language.
  • Knowledge of consulting methods, tools and techniques related to these areas.
  • Longitudinal patient level data analysis using electronic medical records is a plus.
  • Use of AI/ML in the healthcare space is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical software (SAS, SPSS, R) a plus.
