Job purpose and responsibilities:

Provides strategic direction, leadership, and management for the Global Medical Writing department to secure successful completion of medical writing deliverables. Develops organizational structure, recruits and manages staff to ensure excellence in performance. Develops and manages operating budgets for the department. Identifies and develops business opportunities involving new Medical Writing projects and opportunities for the company. Provides support to Business Development and Contracts & Proposal Development for proposal development, client interactions and presentations. Assists in resource utilization, strategic insight, policy development and goal implementation.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s (scientific discipline preferred) with 10 or more years relevant experience or an advanced degree with 10 years relevant experience

6 experience within the pharmaceutical industry

5 years supervisory/management experience

Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent understanding of business principles, including contracts and proposals Exceptional understanding of departmental and project finances Excellent knowledge of drug development, including ICH and regulatory guidelines Ability to effectively communicate with potential clients and corporate leadersDemonstrated evidence of strong management skills, including the ability to supervise and evaluate departmental personnel Demonstrate innovation and leadership in developing new ideas related to Medical Writing, including process improvements
