Responsibilities

  • System configuration work will be conducted in various development environments according to software design
  • Team members will help drive the scope of development work including new functionality, new business initiatives and processes, updates to existing configurations, requested patch updates, setting requirements for IT development support
  • Evaluation of new lab support systems and updated versions of existing systems
  • Coordinate with lab users and management to define requirements for future configurations
  • Assess areas where process improvement is needed, help coordinate necessary updates, and implement new functionality
  • Validation:
  • Team members provide necessary documentation on new configurations in scope for a release.
  • Coordinate with Business Analyst, IT, and Development groups to define requirements, define scope, and estimate effort involved
  • Provide feedback during validation testing
  • Implementation:
  • Assist in implementation of new configurations and management of expected timelines.
  • Provide training to lab users on new functionality, draft user and configuration guides.
  • Provide documentation updates to support new systems or functionality.
  • On-going Support:
  • Serve as an expert on in-house systems.
  • Provide resources for lab user questions and feedback
  • Appropriately escalate issues with connectivity or availability of lab systems to IT as necessary.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience in a clinical, research, academic, or production environment; or the equivalent combination or specialized experience and training in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, next-gen sequencing, or genetics, as well as experience with manipulating software sample/data management systems.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of laboratory procedures and experience working in a scientific laboratory
  • Experience in a high-throughput sequencing, molecular biology, or genetics laboratory
  • Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and any other governing regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with written laboratory procedures, methods, and user manuals.
  • Ability to master new software systems quickly.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements into functional requirements that meet user needs.
  • Familiarity with manipulating software systems and systems validation activities.
  • Demonstrates functional knowledge of software development principles, which could include program languages, database structure, or database integration.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Works easily in a team environment.
  • Works effectively on independent projects or assignments.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
