Help us contribute to beating pediatric cancers! Boston Children's Hospital is focusing research on finding cures for pediatric cancer and Charles River is looking for a talented, caring and committed clinical veterinary  to contribute to these life-saving efforts.

 

 

We are looking for a Clinical Veterinarian to join our Insourcing Solutions team, at Boston Children's Hospital, located in Boston, MA

In the CV role, you can do that by utilizing your knowledge in lab animal medicine, science, and veterinary clinical medicine to collaborate with research investigators and site staff to optimize the objectives of animal research protocols and ensure the integrity of the research and animal care.

What you will do! 

In this Clinical Veterinarian  role you will confer with investigators and staff regarding the type of animal research conducted and provide advice on veterinary clinical considerations, animal health and welfare, training, procedures, numbers and/or care of the animals. In addition, supervise veterinary technicians, write timely annual performance reviews, encourage professional development, and develop, coordinate and participate in educational and training programs that focus on techniques that are important to the animal studies. Supports and participates in the health care and maintenance of research animals by providing veterinary medical services in support of the health and welfare of the animals housed within ARCH. You will administer, or direct the administration, of treatment(s) as appropriate; perform and document post-mortem examination of animals-both for the purpose of providing information for a research project or in terms of determining a health issue within the facility.  The examination may include the performance of hematology, parasitology, microbiology and clinical pathology laboratory tests and procedures.

 

In collaboration with other Boston Children's Hospital/ARCH staff members, the IACUC and the IACUC Office administration, you will contribute substantially to the institution’s comprehensive program to provide humane care and use of research animals and help to assure compliance with federal regulations governing the care and use of laboratory animals and serve as a voting member of the IACUC.

 

 

  Job Qualifications Who are we looking for? 

A candidate that possesses a DVM or a certificate of training accepted by the AVMA. Must have exposure to field of Laboratory Animal medicine; and participation in 2-5 externships during veterinary school or employment at an institution with a laboratory animal facility required.   Must have Licensure to practice vet medicine in a least 1 U.S. state.
