Job Purpose:

As a Principal Engineer - End User Computing, you’ll lead and provide guidance on the build and operation of our IT estate to enhance the availability, performance, reliability and security of solutions and platforms.

This role will be focused on the support of our user base, provision and control of asset management and managing the relationship with our Managed Service Partner

This may require you to work outside of normal business hours providing support to the development and support functions.

You will be seen as a Subject Matter Expert within the role and will be expected to evidence the collaborative and leadership behaviours that support working in a team with architects, developers, support staff, infrastructure engineers and testers as well as evolving and implementing the standards defined within the Company.

As a Principal Engineer you will show creative and innovative problem-solving skills with a willingness to take responsibility and support the wider team for complex issues as they arise. You will understand and set the examples of best practice and standards to develop and implement solutions that operate at scale - seeing your own technology efforts directly improve the reliability and security of products.

You will own relevant technologies, coach and mentor others in the operation and adoption of those technologies. You will liaise with our partners on any implementation of those technologies, lead projects and guide your peers.

QualificationsSkills & Experience:Experience in hardware, software, networks or telecommunications systems support & operations.Demonstrable experience in the support and control of an End User Computing estateExperience of working closed with a Managed Service ProviderExperience is required in several of the following technical areas, with (SME) Subject Matter Expert knowledge in one or more.

Desktop Operating Systems (Unix, Linux and Windows)Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Federated Access and LDAPSCCM and Software Packaging / DeliveryCloud Technologies (Azure, AWS) - IaaS and PaaSFamiliar with networking topologies, networking hardware and exposure to network standards and network protocols.High Availability Technologies (Clustering, Replication etc.)Asset and Configuration ManagementChange ManagementContinual Service ImprovementTesting MethodologiesUser FocusPersonal behaviours and attributes:Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with team communication and positive stakeholder managementExperience working within ITIL Framework of Service Management.Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific specialism in the field and provides expert advice regarding their service area showing leadership when researching and implementing new solutions.Ability to present to medium & large sized audiencesExperience of coaching others resulting in demonstrable improvements in technology skillsYou understand users and can identify who they are and what their needs are based on evidence. You can translate user stories, propose design approaches or services to meet these needs and engage in meaningful interactions and relationships with users. You put users first and can manage competing priorities.

Knowledge, Education & Experience:Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science field, or equivalent or has performed at a Systems Engineer or Cloud Engineer for a minimum of 3 yearsProfessional IT Certifications are desirableExcellent knowledge of ITIL V3 or V4, Foundation certification is desirableFluent in English both written and oral.In return we will be able to offer you a structured career pathway and development within the role including awareness and understanding of the industry.
