Summary:

Senior Contracts Negotiator

Responsibilities

Global site negotiations of clinical agreements and budgets

Preparation of study and country specific contract templates and budget negotiation parameters

Risk mitigation and recommendations for shorter negotiation timelines

Subject matter expert for study team and sponsor on negotiations in responsible countries

Strong experience in communicating (local language) and explaining legal/ budgetary issues to internal and external parties per department guidelines

Qualifications

Min. of 2-4 years in contract negotiations global environment role

Purpose: 

  • To manage all site-related contracting and budget negotiations

Context:  

  •  IQVIA Office or Field based (depending on local requirements) 
  •  Customer-Managed Position. Reports to a Sponsor Line Manager for Operational Support and to an FSP Line Manager for Career Development and Pastoral Care

Responsibilities and key activities include but are not limited to:     

  • Negotiates contract, study budget and milestones with sites within defined parameters for clinical trials and observational studies 
  • Supports resolution of contract issues 
  • Escalates contract and budget issues to Sponsr’s legal or Pricing group and study management as appropriate 
  • Support contracting with local vendors 
  • Leads review of budget templates for country feedback on fair market value and schedule template 
  • Maintains contract tracking in appropriate systems and provides regular feedback to Sponsor Contracts Manager
  • Stores and archives contracts and budgets in appropriate systems 
  • Provides fully executed agreements to payments vendor to ensure on-time payments of clinical trial sites
  • Ensures that spending is within approved contract budgets and perform ongoing and/or end of study contract budget reconciliation as needed 
  • Sets up financial data, raise purchase orders and handles the appropriate entries/requests into the relevant financial and payment systems 
  • Assists with audit record reviews.

  • If required, IQVIA Global Investigator Contracts Support and Legal Team

Decision Making Authority: 

  • Escalation of issues to Sponsor legal and/or Contracts Manager for the study 
  • Agreement of budgets/milestones and contracts within parameters 
  • Execute payment process within local and regional guidelines 
  • Resolution of payment queries 

Outputs: 

  • Finalized contracts and budgets 
  • Executed contracts 
  • Accurate and timely payments 
  • Payment requests 
  • Status reports and updates 

Basic qualifications: 

  • BA/BS/BSc 
  • Finance administration, accounting or contracting or other relevant work experience
  • 2 - 4 years of contract negotiation experience in a global environment

Preferred qualifications: 

  • BA/BS/BSc 
  • Work experience in life sciences or medically related field including biopharmaceuticals clinical research experience (clinical research experience obtained working on clinical trials in a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company, or other relevant clinical setting) 
  • For a Senior position, at least 5 years’ experience in contract negotiations global environment role
