Job Summary We are seeking a Manager / Sr. Manager, Global Category - Procurement, Facilities Management & Capital Construction to support our global Procurement team. The ideal candidate must be an analytical, proactive problem solver and an out of the box thinker with the ability to deliver market insights, identify trends and devise risk mitigation strategies to manage the various market forces that may impact core projects. 

The Manager / Sr. Manager shall partner with Engineering, site & Global Facilities Management Services (GFMS), Business Unit Leaders, and Site Managers to support the development and implementation of global category strategies, negotiate agreements and contracts, and manage special procurement project initiatives. Responsible for analyzing and understanding global multimillion dollar spend categories, to act as a strategic partner to functional areas within the company to lead the development and achievement of all category goals, including overall best value sourcing strategies for categories (quality, service and cost), negotiating and contracting, SRM (supplier relationship management), establishing partnerships with key suppliers, and harmonizing supplier base. 

The position requires strong operational alignment with key stakeholders within the Facilities Services, Engineering, and Construction categories. The Manager / Sr. Manager must display excellent communication skills supporting all stakeholders including CRL Senior Leadership, suppliers and industry forums.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•    Develop and implement global strategies with business leads for assigned categories of products and services, several which are complex and of strategic importance, high value and critical to the success of the business.

•    Interface with local and site procurement to; execute and implement global and regional strategies, consult with business needs, oversee project procurement processes, and facilitate supplier feedback and reviews. 

•    Drive non-financial value such as innovation, service, quality, risk mitigation, etc. via agreed upon strategies to provide a competitive advantage for CRL.  

•    Implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with strategic suppliers and all key suppliers and utilize analytics to enable effective procurement strategies to measure and improve supplier performance against key business objectives while reducing costs and increasing value.

•    Stay current and informed on the market (category based), changing technologies, and global market trends to ensure CRL category strategies are delivering maximum value while maintaining quality and service.

•    Identify, manage, and mitigate risks in the supply chain, follow market conditions and collect vendor intelligence; anticipate market trends and develop strategies.

•    Utilize collaborative procurement for partnering and competitive processes to assure continuous improvements in quality, supply chain and service performance, and maximize the value to CRL.

•    Liaise with procurement peers to ensure a consistent approach to category strategies and management.

•    Develop, negotiate and manage global contractual relationships including all appropriate supply agreements, statements of work and quality specifications, and quality service agreements.

•    Skillfully negotiate agreements in a timely manner, manage tough vendor situations and sensitive relationships ensuring value and minimizing risk. Job Qualifications

•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in a related discipline.  MBA, advanced degree, or Engineering degree preferred.

•    Experience:  

•    6-9 years related experience, management/leadership experience preferred, preferably in a life sciences company and/or multinational corporation.  Including,

•    3-5 years FM/Construction category procurement with specific expertise in one or more of the following:

•    Design & Construction

•    Facility services (Hard, Soft, and Integrated service agreements)

•    Energy & Sustainability

•    Management of 3rd party facilities providers

•    Capital equipment 

•    Real Estate

•    Bachelor’s degree required.  The following a plus:

•    Master’s or other advanced degree

•    Certification/Licensure:  CPSM or other like certifications

•    The following experiences are also a plus:

•    Procurement consulting

•    Ability to lead cross-functional teams across complex projects leveraging technical input and market dynamics to identify executable actions and drive implementation plans and schedules.
