The following are responsibilities related to theSurgery Technician: Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area. Anesthesia Induction & maintenance of rodents as described in research protocols. Perform perioperative care. Perform basic routine rodent surgical procedures, as assigned. Perform health monitoring and genetic monitoring sample collection. Perform all duties following prescribed safety environment. Maintain workstation and equipment in clean, healthful and safe environment. Complete paperwork and establish paper trail. Pack, ship and document product movement. Perform bio-specimen collection. Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels in order to ensure that assigned duties are completed. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Surgery Technicianposition: Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required. Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline preferred. Experience: Two to three years related experience in small animal surgery. One to two years experience or related work experience may be considered. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: Registered Veterinary Technician strongly preferred; AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level (LAT) or higher preferred.
